Oh yeah. Here we go. Not only am I a racist, but now I’m a homophobe as well. I’m with Phil Robertson and Sam Kinison here. I much prefer a vagina to a butthole. Whom do you think is gonna be the most hurt by this? Will it be the Robertson clan or A&E which, by their action in firing Robertson is prolly gonna lose the highest rated cable show? At least A&E is gonna win the AOTW Award which is fitting for their actions.
My initial reaction was snorting disgust at A & E for their narrow-minded and hypocritical knee-jerk pandering to a fringe group that represents less than 2% of the population.
After rolling it around in my mind for a while, tho, I’m now beginning to suspect that it was deliberately planned by some crafty PR guys who see the long-range value in stirring up a shitstorm to create interest in the 7 or 8 episodes of the series they already have in the can . . . then reconsidering their “mistake” and resigning Phil for follow-on episodes.
I mean, Phil’s interview didn’t happen just last week. And why on earth would he ever consent to an interview with a lefty mag like GQ anyway? This is beginning to smell like another “never let a good crisis go to waste” event.
For those who don’t know, Phil used to be a teacher, and he has a Master’s degree. Granted, it’s in Education, which doesn’t mean one helluva lot, but it IS an advanced degree, so the guy isn’t exactly brain dead.
Was he in on it? No, not at the time of the interview, certainly. Nobody’s really that clever. But once the whiney-ass fringe group got all up in people’s faces? Well, I suspect collusion between the DD bunch and A & E strategists isn’t entirely non-credible.
Never watched the series myself, and don’t intend to start now. But if it’s an attempt to manipulate me, that’ll piss me off more than their simply knee-jerking to placate a radical fringe group.
You raise an interesting question: Is this in part or whole a manufactured crisis (by “part”, I mean (as bocopro speculates) it started to happen by itself and someone decided to take advantage of it, sort of like Obama took advantage of the financial crisis to seize control of our personal healthcare).
On the other hands, there’s Occam’s Razor (the simplest explanation is most likely true) and Hanlon’s Razor (“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity”). I’m generally skeptical of conspiracy theories because most of the world is too stupid and clumsy to do such things. Most of the manipulations are obvious enough, and anyone with open eyes and a brain can see them (for example, Obama’s lies on Benghazi). But, yes, there are plenty of behind-the-scenes intrigues.
Lord knows, we need some push back against the thought police and the speech police, who have become more and more aggressive and intrusive. So I hope we’re not being cynically manipulated for the sake of a few shekels.

Wow, a very early AOTW award. This must be serious. Actually, I would have co-awarded it, to A&E and to the dumb ass in the White House, just because he is always an asshole. Maybe Denny should have an “AOTW Besides Dumb Ass” award, since he is always a shoo in.

I hope they drop Anal Experience and move to another network with their show. Maybe FOX could find a slot for them.

A little off topic, but still germane to the Ass Hole of the Epoch. In his presser today Barack Lyin’ sack Obama said that one Million people have signed up for Obamacare. Wow! over 2 months to get the first 300 thousand odd subscribers signed up. 600,000 signed up in a week. One word, Impossible! Does this man think people are not paying attention to the numbers? And whats up with the executive changing TAX laws without input from the congress? We find out today that because the system is so screwed up that people whose insurance was cancelled will not be charged the Penalty/Tax next year. He has granted waivers to the tax fourteen times without congressional action. That is a violation of the Constitution. Taxes are purvey of Congress alone with oversight of the judiciary. Nothing in the Constitution gives the executive branch any power to levy or forgive taxes.
Dimocrats in Congress are spinelessly giving up their legislative power. We have a “free press” that has become the propaganda arm of one party. This is how all democracies fail.
The wall Street Journal said today that the whole law has failed and is coming down around Obama’s ears. I’ d say it goes another three months on inertia before the Insurance carriers bail out on it. They will then present the government a bill for about a half a billion dollars for their costs. What’s more, they will be paid. They were guaranteed a profit in the original law.
That’s why you didn’t see any Harry and Louise ads during the rush to Obummercare legislation like you did with Hillarycare. This time, the insurance companies were in on the scam and were happy that Obummercare would force people to purchase more expensive coverage. AARP, which is basically a seller of Medicare supplemental insurance, was all for Obummercare as well. Now, they’re finding out that that wasn’t a good thing and everyone is gonna lose. It’s ironic that Obungler is now doing exactly what he said he wouldn’t do during the shutdown: delay Obummercare. Looks like Ted Cruz and the real Republicans were right. The Dimocrats are scared shitless.
Or, more likely, “If a crisis does not exist, then CREATE one.”
Seems we’re spending more time and energy discussing this than the ever-present Obamacare fiasco or the most recent bit of fuckery by Congress.
Then create one? I agree. There are no coincidences in politics.

The part of the Robinson story that many are expressing is that this “culture war” issue has to do with the faggots being totally intolerant.
Christians and most of the country have to tolerant of gays who are dancing half naked in the Macy’s parade, with the sodomite agenda appearing everywhere, but no one can say a negative thing about that life style.
It isn’t so much a first amendment issue as it is a a right to free speech, you stifle that and you are stifling free thought. Hate Thought is the goal here.
