My late older Brother turned me on to Johnny when I was 14 in 1971. It was this album that he played for me. Never got to see him live but I did see Derringer in 1974. Ol’ Rick could really tear up the guitar solos.
Back In The USA solo is awesome on the Roadwork album.
I just recalled that the Roadwork album was Edgar Winters White Trash. It had the Back In The USA recording with Derringer ripping out an insane solo. My 58 year old memory is shot in the ass.
An awesome live recording from the late, great Johnny Winter. That band he had at the time was amazing, especially the drummer Bobby Caldwell. Of course, Rick Derringer was no slouch either. This is gut bucket blues folks.
I highly recommend another classic live recording from Johnny Winter: THE PROGRESSIVE BLUES EXPERIMENT, recorded in Austin, Texas in 1967:
nice to start off a Sunday morning with Johnny. Thanks Denny
Saw Johnny at a small bar here in Ft. Lauderdale last year. He was wheeled out and played in a wheelchair.
Didn’t look too good but still played unbelievably.
Saw him 12/30/1969,Jacksonville, Fla. He was the warm up act for…Grand Funk Railroad!

And for those interested in Bobby Caldwell, check out the self titled 1972 debut LP from the band Captain Beyond:

Johnny always surrounded himself with good musicians.
That is very true Denny. Further proof of that is the following live soundboard recording of Johnny Winter and Muddy Waters from 1977:
