It’s a sad day for this country. We lost a giant of a man and a great conservative justice. This makes this year’s election even more important. Hopefully the Republicans in the Senate will show some spines and refuse to allow Obungler to appoint anyone to take Scalia’s place. One more liberal on the Supreme Court and the Republic is doomed. Obumbler will prolly nominate a black to rile up the black base to get them to the polls to vote for the Dimocrat nominee. We are so boned!

There is hope, the other justices are also in their late 70’s. Now all we need is a Republican in the White house. As for riling up the blacks and others, that’s done every election year. Favorite tactic of the Democrats.

I sat in front of my keyboard for several minutes thinking of the likelihood of
senators to show some spine.
Phrases like, Icebergs in Hell, A clinton telling the truth, or A balanced dimocrat budget all came to mind.
In the end it all came down to simply Not likely at all.
Back in ’09 I wrote of the importance of Sotomayor NOT being appointed to the SCOTUS. She was the beginning of Obama’s war on the Constitution.
Afterwards, on 12/29/’12, I wrote this paragraph; “A few years ago I told all who would listen how dangerous and what a disaster it would be allowing Obama’s, “wise Latino,” Sonia Sotomayor, onto the Supreme Court. Here, typically illustrates my warning as this Spic rules for a jailed felon Muslim and against a Christian business: Sotomayor ruled in favor of a Muslim inmate who was denied Ramadan meals. She held that the meal was subjectively important to the inmate’s practice of Islam. Next, Sonia Sotomayor denied Hobby Lobby’s emergency request to block enforcement of the mandate, but said the company may continue its appeal in lower courts. ( This ruling has a veiled purpose – Let the “offensive” Christian company use up all of their resources fighting the ruling when it’s known that lower courts will rule for them and the higher courts will overturn the rulings eventually anyway. )
A year later, I warned of the same if Elena Kagan was approved.
But, remember these two were nominated and approved during Obama’s first two years and not much could have prevented their appointments since the Dim-O’s held a majority.
So now we have bookend Lib-O’s on the Supreme Court – An anti-Constitutional, racist, Spic and another anti-Constitutional Lesbo-Jew. What a country!
This time it is different. Repugs CAN block/stop/prevent ANY nomination put forth by Obama with their Senate majority – Ala Chuckie Schumer style as he did during the Bush administration back in 2007. If they don’t, Denny is right, “We are so boned!”
It looks like the Republicans are willing and able to delay an appointment until after the election. But even under the best of circumstances, who could fill those shoes? Scalia was one of the few truly great men in public service, and his loss is a terrible blow to a nation that has lost its way.

There needs to be age limits on all the bastards.
Supposedly, the lifetime appointments are to prevent any fed judge from being influenced by seeking votes or outside forces trying to hold their jobs over their heads if they vote differently than the influencing “force” wishes them to.
The founders made this clear, at least to me, that their independence was the most important thing of all.
However, there does come a time when old age can prevent them from thinking clearly such as the old liberal fossil Ginsburg proves and a method of changing them out should be available to Congress.
This is just my two cents from a retired bridge builder.

Mike: I agree wholeheartedly. If Trump gets elected, we will have a full-blown autocrat in the White House. I would not put it past him to forgo naming a Vice-President or even a Cabinet. He seems to be of the opinion that he is the be-all, know-all of today’s politics. Despite this, he would at least be better, but not much, than the asshole currently infesting the White House today.
As far as the speculation that the Senate Republicans (RINOs), led by Chief RINO McConnell, folding like a cheap suit and catering to Mullah Obama’s demands, count on it. IT WILL HAPPEN!
