In honor of Keith Emerson, who died last week, here is part of their Pictures at an Exhibition album.

Thirty years ago I could play The Promenade. I could also play part of The Gnome. I actually have this album on vinyl.

  1. WOW! Thanks, Denny. Best rendition of The Pictures I ever heard! Wish I had seen him on the stage.

So great that he brought this classic to people who might have missed Mussorgsky completely otherwise. Modest Petrovich was such an innovator and so adaptable to any musical environment.

It’s such a fine piece to play. Even in the modest and calm manner the Nuns taught me! Would like my piano teacher to have watched Keith at the keyboard. A Master and Magician!
