This, of course, will shut down businesses and put people out of work, which is just fine for the Dimocrats who control California, since this means more Dimocrat voters. Dimocrats love the poor. That’s why they have so many policies to keep people poor and to create new poor people. Look at blacks. For the last 50 years Dimocrats have kept them poor, uneducated, and dependent upon the gummint. What a scam! And apparently black people are dumb since they keep voting for Dimocrats. Here’s the ultimate irony. Blacks did far better under Reagan and both Bushes than they did under the first black president. Way to go bros and sistahs!
The $15 an hour minimum wage will also cause more Californians to move to Texas giving Texas more electoral votes. The downside is that many of these people moving could be liberals who want to institute the same policies in Texas that caused them to leave. Liberals are like a virus who destroys the host and then leaves to find another healthy host to destroy. Don’t Californicate Texas!

We here in Washington State (Vancouver USA) are being saddled (and there are lots of burrs under that saddle) with a $15.00 minimum wage being added in steps over a couple of years. My wife and I saw that in the local Joann’s store last Sunday. There is just on person at the cutting table and one at the checkout stand. Customers were lined up almost to the back of the store waiting on either the fabric cutter or to get checked out. The run-ragged clerk told us that corporate Joann’s has decreed that clerks be cut back to only one or two because of the minimum wage. No matter that lines are clear to the back of the store and/or that customers are leaving never to return.
But it has been a boon for a locally-owned fabric store that is just a couple of miles away. They are loving it.
Let’s see – the cost of doing business goes up with the increase in the minimum wage – so a business has to raise prices in order to survive – which means that inflation shows it’s face and evens things out percentage wise – which means that the net-net for the entry level / no skills / maroons is that they will STILL be in poverty and still pissing and moaning about their unfair position in life and still be a drag on our effing Great Society…

This will only speed up the inevitable.., robots that will replace many, many of the present day workers. One look at the auto industry will tell you what’s ahead. I have been told robots do most of the work building a car now, and will do more in the future, replacing most auto workers. Raising the minimum wage will only give places lie McDonalds the added incentive to put in place the perfect worker, the robot.
There will still be jobs for her at McDonalds: maintenance and repair of said machines, and janitorial. My guess is that she’s barely qualified for one of those positions, but even then, is her labor worth $15 an hour?

My uncle (a major tomato supplier to Red Gold) mechanized when migrant workers became too big of a pain in the ass to deal with. And I was arguing with someone earlier who said that raising the minimum wage DID NOT lead to price inflation and job loss, and that there was no literature I could point to to prove otherwise. Well, no shit, common sense tells us his thesis is nothing but leftist wishful thinking. So I asked why not pay people with no skill $25 an hour if there are no economic consequences resulting from moving the minimum wage to something totally arbitrary. And, what is going to be the consequences for more skilled workers and their salaries if minimum is $15 an hour (who the hell is going to sling concrete for $15 an hour if you can sling burgers for the same money). Still waiting for an answer.
This kind of shit really makes me mad. Working at McDonalds flippin’ burgers is NOT a fucking career. It was never meant to be a career, it was meant to be a 15 year old’s first job. I have to wonder how this is going to affect rural areas of the states that implement this, areas where the cost of living is reasonable. Maine, where I am a lot of State and local government jobs start in the $9 – $11/hr range and $15/hr is a damn good wage. A lot of skilled workers barely make that here. They did that crap here in WA state and all it accomplished for me was that while I used to eat out fairly often, I’ve almost quit entirely.
Used to stop for coffee and a couple brekky sandwiches about every morning. Since then I got one of those Hamelton-Beach(sp?) brekky sandwich makers and can make a couple as I am getting ready to go out. Better sandwiches too, not take what you greasily get. Coffee maker on its timer has much better coffee ready for me when I get up. Very little effort and time to save much $$$ and effectively registers my vote on this commie stupidity…

What next?? I live in the central commiefornia mountains halfway between Yosemite and Sequoia Nat. parks. I can just envision most of the surrounding communities that depend on tourists laying off, or not hiring teenagers for their summer jobs. Damn shame. The kids will never learn to work and never have a little loot in their pockets anymore.
