Yet another cut from Montrose’s first album. After Sammy went solo and before he joined Van Halen he would play this at every concert. He would do the intro on a lap steel guitar. He would also trade leads with his lead guitarist. The first time I saw Sammy I was surprised that he could play lead guitar as well as he did. This was the first song he ever wrote. From the album.

And here he is live in 1983 at the old Checkerdome (since been demolished) in St. Louis. I was prolly at this concert. He usually would play guitar on this song but this night he didn’t. St. Louis loved Sammy and Sammy loved St. Louis. All of his concerts would sell out. IMO, this band was a lot better than his Wabo band.

  1. It took so much energy! Nearly a night of exercises at the gym….I’m exhausted just looking at it! Not bad music….but not Bach and Vivaldi! Sorry, to each his own, I always say.
