Hey AD, here’s sumpin’ to crank up to 11.
I had this on 8 track and used to listen to it as I was cruising on I-44 in Missouri in my 1966 Mustang, my 1971 Pontiac, and my 1973 Monte Carlo. Drove to California in the summer of ’71 and I played this a lot. Good highway driving music. Turn it up full blast and pedal to the metal. This wasn’t this band’s biggest hit but it sure was the song they really rocked out on.
’73 Monte… wasn’t a bad view to be found on the car. God, I miss Heritage America. Thanks for the jams, Denny.
Bought the Monte Carlo in 75 from a girl I was banging at the time. Gas prices had gone up so she bought a 75 Mercury Capri (POS) and sold me the Monte Carlo for $2800 which according to the bank that loaned me the money split the diff between retail and wholesale. The loan officer told me if I didn’t want it he did at that price. Had 25K miles on it. Was royal blue. Had the 350 engine. Had to replace the transmission at 40K miles which I found out was common with the 350. Replaced the AM radio with an in dash AM/FM 8 track. Drove the car to California once and to Kingston New York twice for IBM schools. When in Kingston over Labor Day I drove up to Montreal and then through Canada to Maine. Then through the rest of New England and back to New York. Fun car to drive on the road. One of my girlfriends called it the living room because it was so spacious. Had swivel bucket seats. Finally sold it to the daughter of a friend in 1982 when it had 128K miles on it. Bought a 78 280Z to replace it. The daughter eventually sold it to one of her friends who blew the engine. A sad end for a great car.

DeLorean – married premium pussy and a vehicle visionary – a man way ahead of his time. Too bad GM’s corporate culture and, an impenetrable industry took him down.
Great road tune. ’66 Mustang, red with white top was my favorite car of the era. Closest I ever got was a blue ’70 Cuda; wish I would have kept it, but I sold it when I went to college.
Probably just as well: I let my best friend drive it on a hot summer day and we spun out on 41 doing almost 150, windows open, no belts, nothin’. The Molly Hatchet 8-track actually popped out of the deck, I shit you not. How we didn’t roll it I don’t know. I remember the sudden silence and the wind blowing through the car; he had a death grip on the wheel and his eyes were bulging out of his head. I nursed it the rest of the way back like an old lady driving home from church.
When I got married, I drove a brand new 1963 Pontiac Gran Prix. Had a 421 ci engine.
Great road car, but only straight ahead, no curves.
Still married to the same gal, 55 years later!
