Severe frosts and heavy snow have returned unseasonably late to vast swathes of Europe this week, potentially laying waste to millions of Euros worth of early, tender grapes.
How can this be? I thought the planet was burning up.
Winemakers across the continent are lighting thousands of torches in an attempt to protect their livelihoods from the subzero temperatures.
But AOC and the rat bastard commies claim we only have twelve more years to save the planet.
“Any more than 1C below zero (30.2F) and you’re really in trouble,” said winemaker Andreas Huber who is based in South Tryol, Italy where temperatures as low as -9C (15.8F) were recorded on Wednesday morning.
Heeding the forecast warning, Huber spent all weekend preparing “anti-frost” torches every few metres throughout his vineyard, and then, as the mercury started to fall, he set them ablaze.
I remember reading twenty years ago that French winemakers were buying land in England because France was gonna be too warm to grow good grapes. They might want to rethink that strategy.
Lighting 300 torches over one hectare raises the temperature by roughly 3C, according to Huber, a difference that could prove crucial.
The neighboring province of Trentino recorded its lowest temperatures since 1987 this week, which had farmers busy taking to anti-frost precautions in vineyards as well as apple orchards their, too.

A Farmers’ Union spokesperson estimates that the recent spell of brutal Arctic air could lay waste to millions of euros’ worth of crops.
And the spell is forecast to continue through this weekend, too as storms tear across much of Europe, particularly central regions, dumping more unseasonable snow onto towns and villages leaving them looking decidedly more wintry than spring-like.

No way to tell how many billions of dollars have been redistributed by alarmists running for office or selling books or just scheming to increase government control over every-fucking-thing.
How many millimeters has the sea actually risen since the threat was first made a sacrament in the Church of AGW by Pope AlGore — 50? That’s 5 centimeters, tops. Two lousy inches, and I don’t trust their measurements.
The friggin Antarctic ice cap is bigger than the continental US and 2 kilometers thick. It contains roughly 90% of all the ice on the fargin planet. If every goddam human on earth drove an SUV 24/7, it’d take hundreds of years to melt it all.
My guess is that we’re headed toward a mini-ice-age caused by a maunder minimum, prob’ly beginning in just a coupla years.
And I think we’re already IN the early stages of a pole shift, which could be catastrophic in terms of solar radiation levels and loss of atmosphere. The planet’s EMF shield will be weakened as it progresses, and that is NOT a good thing.
Might be a fun ride ‘long about 2050 or so, ‘specially if that pole shift is slow, like decades. A year or so in duration? No sweat.
My favorite was Ozone depletion & the massive hole in the Stratosphere devoid of Ozone which was letting in harmful Solar radiation.
Remember Ozone was being destroyed due to aerosol containers & freon. They even developed a computer model to prove it,
Unfortunately the computer model & its dozens of revisions has never been close to being accurate.
About 5 years ago California listed Ozone as being a principle pollutant from vehicle exhaust. When asked why this toxic Ozone did not migrate to the upper atmosphere to close the dreaded Ozone hole……It was explained there was Good & Bad Ozone. Really? Maybe the illegals coming across our southern border could be required to bring tanks of good Ozone with them in order to be given resident status.
About 2 years ago I read a number of ” Climate/ Atmosphere experts ” now believe the Ozone Hole has always been there growing & shrinking naturally. Not really a surprise .
And don’t forget that they replaced freon with something that did not work half as well.
I’m already assured that they will come back later and declare this as the warmest May in history. All they have to do is rewrite history.

Solar Cycle 25 started from the blocks looking like it was going to be very weak and fulfill the prophecies of those predicting a Maunder-like experience for the 2020s. Then after a couple of years it caught up with Solar Cycle 24. Looking back over the previous three cycles, the solar polar field strength at this stage, three years before minimum, has been close to the value at minimum. On that assumption, Solar Cycle 25’s amplitude is likely to be two thirds of that of Solar Cycle 24, and thus 60. Further climatic cooling is therefore in store.
