Led Zep. Jimmy is playing the Telecaster that Jeff Beck gave him when he joined the Yard Birds. Not long after that he started playing a Les Paul. He was really into using that bow on their first album.

Holy crap! This was 50 years ago!

  1. Once in a lifetime. There will never be anything like them. Sorry Greta van fleet. They’ll always be relevant and I hear something new every time I listen. Very nice Sunday metal!

  2. Denny,
When you break 70……50 years ago was Yesterday! Hell I am 78+ & I remember my parents with neighbors celebrating the end of the Pacific War ! I was a very tired 4 when I went to sleep while the party was going strong.

  3. Though JP started using Les Pauls more for live performances, he still used Telecasters for recording many of his most famous solos (Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, Achilles’ Last Stand, etc.).

  4. I wonder how many people in this audience had any idea how big LZ would become. My kids in their 30s have listened to them for years.

  5. Frickin’ awesome. Still in my opinion a Telecaster doesn’t stack up to a Gibson Les Paul Standard.

OTOH, anything David Gilmour has touched over the years is a totally unforgettable experience.

    Anyhoo, awesome Sunday Metal.

    Thanks

    Cheers
