Damn that global warming climate change. Wisconsin vineyards decimated.

September is harvest time for Wisconsin vineyards, and many are delivering much smaller yields than usual this year –or even none at all– due to historically cold and wet growing conditions, as reported by www.nbc15.com.

But I thought winters were gonna be non-existent.

Peter Botham, co-owner of Botham’s Vineyards and Winery in Barneveld, has been growing grapes for decades. However this year will be the first in 27 that the vineyard won’t be harvested.

Why is that?

“For growing grapes, it could not have been worse,” said Botham.

A historically cold winter burned the buds, and then a cool and wet spring and summer made it impossible for the few grapes that did develop to ripen.

An “historically cold winter”? How can that be? I thought the planet was heating up?

Botham’s vineyard saw so little fruit that he decided not to harvested at all.

“You’d [usually] see a lot of purple right now [but] all you see right now is green,” he said.

And it isn’t just Botham, many other Wisconsin growers are hurting too.

Shaun Lapacek, owner and winemaker at Rock N Wool Winery in Poynette, reports that more than 60% of his grapes have been lost to the cold.

“Every half month you go out there, oh my god this one’s not growing. It’s been brutal, there’s just no getting past it, it’s just been a brutal year for us,” Lapacek said.

“All the produce, all the grapes … have been lessened,” he added.

And just think, I’ll bet we’ll be hearing from the AGW crowd that this year was the warmest evah!

  1. We’ve lived in Wisconsin for most of our lives and have noticed that the winters have gotten longer, not shorter. Our retirement plans have always been about moving South to warmer climes. I would welcome some global warming, but it hasn’t been happening here.

  2. Hell, there was snow in the Sierra Nevada range this past weekend and summer ain’t even over. The Northwest Passage ain’t ice-free, no matter how much the lyin’ science deniers want us to believe otherwise. Who are you gonna believe, them or your lyin’ eyes? There’re more polar bears now than several years ago. Every time those fools are shown to be wrong, we’re supposed to forget that fact and fall for their next false prophesy and not point out that the science has never been on their side.

  3. From the Competitive Enterprise Institute:
    5. Is there really a climate crisis?

In the United States, there has been no increase in flood magnitudes in any region since the 1920s, and no nationwide increase in drought since 1900 as measured by the Palmer Drought Severity Index.

There has been no trend since 1900 in the strength or frequency of U.S. land-falling hurricanes, and none in hurricane-related damages once losses are adjusted for increases in population, wealth, and the consumer price index.

Globally, the total area burned by wildfires has decreased every decade since the 1940s, and NASA reports that the number of square kilometers burned fell by about 25 percent between 2003 and 2019.

In addition, all major indicators of human health and well-being such as life expectancy, per capita income, and crop yields have improved dramatically during the era of global warming.

Finally, whatever effects global warming may be having on the weather since the 1920s, the individual risk of dying from extreme weather globally has decreased by 99 percent, and since 1990, the relative economic impact of extreme weather (measured as a percent of global GDP) has declined.

What is your real-world evidence that climate change is a crisis?

Politicians proposing multitrillion-dollar climate plans owe it to the American people to answer tough questions, rather than relying on claims of “consensus” and smearing those who disagree in an attempt to dodge them.

  4. I have a friend (yes I do have some friends) that owns a vineyard in Southern Minnesota and he is saying the same thing. Horseshit yields this year, worst ever. Too cold and too much rain. Lots of plants died off last winter due to the prolonged extreme cold.

  5. I seem to recall reading that those scientists who really are scientists are pretty much in agreement that the world is in fact moving toward another mini-ice age as has happened several times before in recorded history.
Assuming this is true, consider what will be the result if all those .govs prepare for a warming climate rather than what’s probably really coming down the pike

    • Yes. “Solar Minimum” or some such?

I’ve always had the heretical notion that the Big Glowing Ball in the Sky had something to do weather and climate.

  6. In September 2016 NOAA quietly revised its website because they were caught reporting in fraudulent data supporting Global Warming in the Middle East & Anarctica.
It turns out there were no Weather stations or Ocean buoys in place “Meaning non-existent” to gather data……So they just made it up, they lied to support an agenda.
Meanwhile in the North hemisphere, real weather stations reported record snowfall, cooling temperatures.
They have been caught in years past faking Temperature data in Eastern Canada again from non existent remote stations as well as adjusting “Falsifing” data from Oceanic Bouys in the North Atylantic.
NOAA stans for “NOT OFTEN ACTUALLY ACCURATE ” but remains the source for the information the Global Warming idiots brodcasts
