Hey all of you Californians, howza ’bout them gas prices?
As gas prices in California hit the highest in the country, the state maintains the top spot for the highest state gas taxes in the nation.
Mexifornia leading the nation.
The average price for regular gas in California is $4.09 while the national average is $2.65, according to data compiled by the American Automobile Association.
Here in Atlanta it’s $2.39 a gallon.
Gas taxes recently went up by 5.6 cents in California, bringing the total state gas taxes to 62 cents per gallon. Factoring in federal gas taxes brings the total to 80 cents per gallon.
The Tax Foundation ranks California as the state with the highest gas taxes in the country.
And what do they have to show for it? A crumbling highway infrastructure. Meanwhile, they’re throwing billions at a bullet train to nowhere.
In May, the California Energy Commission announced it would further examine the potential causes of gas price disparity in the state and “provide a full report to the governor.”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
But not to worry about high gas prices. Everyone will have an electric car so they won’t need gas. Of course, since now there are planned blackouts in Mexifornia, just like in all Third World countries, the booger eatin’ moh-rons who bought into the electric car bullshit won’t be able to charge their cars.
Fortunately, they won’t have to worry about plastic straws.
Sounds like the commies here in Illinois.
My feelings exactly. I love that 38 cent gas tax we just got, courtesy of our liberal Democrat Governor.
I’m one of those Californina “morons” who bought an electric car. Of course my reason has 0 to do with “saving the planet”. I did it to save money. I bought a Nissan Leaf and thanks to our government I got $10,000 off. I also got another $6k from Nissan.
Yeah, I can hear the bellyaching about giving rebates to those morons who buy EVs but as long as they do I’m not gonna refuse it.
I also have solar panels on my home for the same reason. It takes about 8 years to pay for and after that it’s “free electricity”.
As for not being able to charge, all I need to do is add a couple of batteries and I’m off the grid. I can charge my car and run my house and never buy another kilowatt.
So not all of us are drinking the kool-aid. Some of us just understand economics.
Oh, and I’m moving to Arizona as soon as I retire.
What’s the range of the car? How long does it take to charge? How much will it cost to replace the battery. I think I’ll keep my two IC cars for now.
BTW, congrats on moving out of Mexifornia when you retire. One of the happiest days of my sister’s life was when she retired and left Mexifornia for South Carolina.
310 miles. I don’t plan to keep it long enough to know the cost of changing a battery. I never keep a car longer than 500,000 miles so don’t see me doing it with this one either.
Charging on trips is the only drawback. That said it only takes about an hour longer for an 8 hour trip.
But the rest of the time I sail by the gas stations and plug in at home for my “free” energy. Yeah, it will take a few years to make it free but in the long run solar is cheaper.
Hmm, did you mean to say 50,000? I’m not sure I have ever put 500,000 on a car in my life and I’m over 50 and my current Honda Element has 205,00o miles on it it which is the most I have ever put on a vechicle in my life. And it is still running strong.
The blackouts have already caused several deaths when some people’s respiration machines stopped working.
“PEOPLE WILL DIE!”
I guess some lives mean more than others.
NHTom- I’ve only seen one story about death of somebody on O2 and he was about to croak from severe heart disease. Twelve minutes without power shouldn’t’ve been enough to result in oxygen starvation. If I was on a machine like that I’d have at least a pair of pack up systems. Hell, as it is I’ve got 3 generators that got a workout. Took a small one to work to run the the basics, just didn’t get enough juice from the little 2K unit to run the well or heat/AC. There’s another 2.2K Generac here at home and a 6.3K Yamaha that stays here and runs anything we need.
Just ’cause some of us still live in Kommiefornia don’t necessarily mean we’ve caught The Stoopids from the wackos in Sacramento.
Sorry to hear about the guy’s passin’ but it wasn’t from power bein’ shut off.
All this aside, maybe the lack of power and lights will be enough to make some of the dimwit Dims around here realize that it may take the light of torches, along with pitchforks and tar & feathers to get the politicians’ attention.
To make even Mo’Bettah, the taxes which are for “transportation system maintenance and repair are being siphoned off by Governor Gruesome for pissy projects that one really needs to stretch hard to call transportation.
I read about that a couple of days ago. As usual, the slimy-politicians promised the Kookafornians yet once again that this time the tax would actually go to fixing the roads, unlike the last umpteen times they promised that and then spent it elsewhere. But opps, already they have decided that this money is needed else where other than infrastructure but you can count on the next gas tax increase to actually go for roads…..wink wink.
People that continue to live there deserve what they are getting. Ain’t communism great????
Maybe some bright bulb out there can figure out a way to fill all those potholes with the human feces that are so abundant in that part of the country.

Happiest day of my life was in late June of ’93 when I had Needles in my rearview mirror and the morning sun in my eyes after twelve years as a Federal prisoner. (Actually twelve years Active-Duty Navy, but it comes to the same thing, except a Federal prisoner get’s more floor space.)
