Not just good news but great news! The UN is running out of money.
The United Nations is facing its worst cash crisis in nearly a decade and is warning that it may be unable to pay its bills by the end of the month, while urging member states to pay their contributions to the world body immediately.
Yeah deadbeats, pay up.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres wrote to member states this week, saying that as of the end of September, they have only paid 70 percent of budget contributions, compared with 78 percent at this time last year.
Maybe the UN should hire a collection agency. Call these countries at dinner time.
“The Organization runs the risk of depleting its liquidity reserves by the end of the month and defaulting on payments to staff and vendors,” a statement by Guterres spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.
Breaks my heart.
“Stressing the Charter obligation of Member States, the Secretary-General thanked the Member States who have paid their regular budget assessments, which is now 129, and urged those who have not paid to do so urgently and in full,” the statement said. “This is the only way to avoid a default that could risk disrupting operations globally. The Secretary-General further asked governments to address the underlying reasons for the crisis and agree on measures to put the United Nations on a sound financial footing.”
How can we continue to bash the united States and Israel if we’re broke?
While the U.S. is one of the countries that have not paid its contribution in full, an official from the U.S. Mission to the U.N. told Fox News that is in part because of differences in U.S. and U.N. fiscal years.
“To date this year, we have contributed over $600 million to UN peacekeeping operations, and will be providing the vast majority of the $674 million we owe to the 2019 regular budget this fall, as we have in past years,” the official said. “Overall the United States, as the largest contributor to the UN, contributes roughly $10 billion annually in assessed and voluntary contributions across the United Nations system.”
Which is way too much.
The official also said the U.S. has been clear that no single member should pay for more than a quarter of the U.N. budget. (The U.S. currently pays approximately 22 percent of the U.N.’s operating budget.)
President Trump echoed this sentiment on Wednesday morning, tweeting in reference to reports about the U.N. budget woes: “So make all Member Countries pay, not just the United States!”
Exactly! We have been supporting this corrupt America bashing entity for way too long. Let the UN go bankrupt. Kick them out of New York. It is totally disgusting that we pay 22% of the operating budget.

Voted for this man in 1980. Larry McDonald was a staunch conservative and chairman of the John Birch Society. And believe it or not, he was a Democrat. He railed against the UN along with Mitch Warbel, another Cobb county resident. The Russians killed McDonald by shooting his plane down near Korea. I was on the USS Carl Vinson then. Everytime a ship in the taskgroup got close to the pinger a russian ship would drive it away. Damn shame.

Ancient History revisited ……….When I was in High School 60+ years ago there was a sign along the road we traveled to & from School which said “Get Us Out of the United Nations & get the United Nations out of the United States ”
That Sign was there for many many years eventually falling to the ravages of time & neglect. Exactly when it was erected I do not know but it was on private land & maintained by the property owner until he died .
The message expressed on the sign was relevant then & remains so today, the reality of one person alone erecting & maintaining that sign serves as proof to me of the folly all Americans share today with the fact most of the so called United Nations despise us , votes in unison against us & actively aligns with our enemies but…….does love our Money!
The only reason the UN survives in any fashion is the money we as the largest contribute & the Buildings we provided for them to use as a stage to orchestrate their hatred of us. To me it is kind of like they want to hang us but we have to pay for the rope!
I agree with the many who say enough is enough , keep our 10 billion dollars yearly here, kick the third world America haters out & reclaim the property for legitimate uses.
As for those few UN members who are really allies, we can deal directly with them without our money being siphoned off by third world parasites.

Perhaps they should revisit what they spend the money on and make changes to the budget spent. Live within their means.
Seems to me that in grammar school, around Hallowe’en, somebody’d come around collectin’ for UNESCO. We’d all be guilt tripped into collectin’ coins while out trick-or-treatin’ and turn it in to a collector and they’d send it off to UNHQ.

Any nation in arrears of UN contribution should be arbitrarily denied all diplomatic privileges outside their respective embassies/consulates. This includes going to and from the United Nitwits property.
Jaywalking? Busted. Doesn’t matter about any diplomatic immunity. Tow all wrongly-parked cars with diplo-plates assigned to that country. Seize all cars with unpaid tickets. Make them pay all fines and penalties to get the vehicle back — and do it for every vehicle that embassy has. Force these deadbeats onto the subways. Make them rub shoulders with commoners, who can’t afford luxury banquets routinely offered by the “swells.”
I’ve reconsidered. Outbound ships and diplomats jammed inside, four layers high. Shoot returnees.

My fantasy:
Trump, as High Sheriff, showing up with the eviction notice. His enforcement deputies will be United States veterans. He will then turn the buildings and assets over for veteran housing.
I don’t know Jane Austen, but I kind of like the idea of turning the UN building into a shelter for the nation’s homeless and addicted.
That is something New York City deserves.
