Saturday Guitar

I’ve fallen in love with Scarlatti keyboard sonatas and I’ve decided to try to find as many as I can, in order, transcribed for guitar. Here’s the first one.

Now here it is on harpsichord, the instrument it was prolly played on in Scarlatti’s time.

Claudia, did you ever play any of Scarlatti’s sonatas?

  1. Never ever stop posting Saturday Guitar. Learn so much, I never knew. Really screwed my self over forty years ago never learning to read music, nor learning guitar.

    • I learned guitar. Self taught. Should have invested in lessons so I could read music. I can read tablature. I did take two semesters of class piano when I was in my thirties so I could read piano music. Alas, after my accident I quit piano for twenty years. I can still read music but nowhere near as well as I could thirty-five years ago.

  2. Denny, you missed my comment of February 1st. You posted Jennifer Kim playing a Scarlatti Sonata. I said that I like Scarlatti Sonatas so much. He wrote 555 keyboard sonatas, all very original. Some musicians (2 or 3) have played and taped them all. Alas, I never learned any. But my teacher (a nun)( made me practice his 30 Exercises. I didn’t mind. They’re very melodious. And they certainly kept my fingers supple and agile.
