From my Pessimist Calendar.
The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter. – Winston Churchill
Exhibit A: Jug Hussein Ears Downgrade.
Exhibit B: It didn’t even take a five minute conversation with one of my friends on election day. I was stunned when he told me he was voting for Obeauzeau because he had kept us from going into a depression. WTF? Un-freakin’-believable!
Exhibit C: The only time I listen to Sean Hannity on the radio is when I’m in my car which is usually on one of my road trips. I’ve heard him send out a staff member to ask people on the street questions like who’s the vice president or name one Supreme Court justice. The colossal ignorance of the voting public is saddening and that explains the condition of the country. Jay Leno does sumpin’ similar. It’s funny and saddening at the same time
The approval rating of Congress is at an all time low, but we keep sending the same bozo’s back to represent us. Informed voters are vastly outnumbered by uninformed voters. We get the gummint we deserve.
Our Constitution is now looked on as a “living” document which is liberal progressive rat bastard commie speak for “Ignore it.” It’s an impediment to the socialist welfare state that the Obamessiah and his minions want to impose on us and they have a compliant Supreme Court which just ruled last summer that the gummint can force us to buy a product. Thanks Chief Justice Roberts, you asshole!
The president and congresscritters take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and then proceed merrily on their way to passing laws that are unconstitutional, like Johnny “Maverick” McRINO and his assault on the First Amendment with his campaign finance “reform” law. And now we have liberal progressive rat bastard commie congresscritters and our halfrican president going after the Second Amendment.
Remember how these same assholes ranted and raved about Chimpy McHalliburton Bushitler shredding the Constitution? Oblunder is using it for toilet paper. He has expanded all the programs that his minions decried as unconstitutional when the eee-vil Bush was in office. FISA wiretaps? Up. Now we find that his consigliere, Eric Holder not only went after a Fox News reporter’s e-mail – which was OK with the LSM since they are the propaganda arm of the Dimocrat Party and Fox is the enemy – but also targeted AP emails. Now they’re pissed, prolly not for long though.
Yannow what I would like to see in this country is a citizenship test. Before anyone can vote or run for public office, one would first have to take a test on the Constitution. Failure would mean that one could not vote or run for office. The same would go for political appointees. If you’re gonna shred the Constitution you would at least have to know what is in the document that you want to destroy.
I’m dreaming.
I like the last three sentences, Denny. I’d also add to the disqualification list. On the welfare teat? No vote, no holding office, nor any bureaucrat appointments. On parents health insurance coverage to age 26? No vote – become a responsible adult with skin in the game, not a nearing 30’s campus lizard hanging out playing Xbox, and blowing jokesmoke, racking up credits for useless degrees on taxpayer subsidized Big Ed loans going into Socialist educationcrats pockets. Financial deadbeat, or tax cheat while in office (think Detroit City Clowncil)? To city/town square, into the stocks, public flogging – no exceptions.
Or watching MSNBC for two.
we’re a country that went from infancy to senility with a brief time of maturity. End days, my friends. Unless the youth wake up. this is the first cycle in over 30 years, perhaps more, where as unemployment rate drops, the paychek to population % doesn’t go up…we’ve cooked the books, and the teat hasn’t run dry yet.
<blockquoteOur Constitution is now looked on as a “living” document which is liberal progressive rat bastard commie speak for “Ignore it.”
So, you disagree with Jefferson who stated that the constitution is for the living and should be rewritten as time passes?

So, you disagree with Jefferson’s quote that implies that the constitution should not be a static unchanging document?
“”I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.””
George – That’s what the amending process is for. Unfortunately, the rat bastard commies choose to eschew that process and find things in the Constitution that are not there.
The amendment process is dead. That’s never happening again. You couldn’t get one through congress now, let alone the states.
The random bits of law that are coming out of the SC isn’t good — IMO, the SC is broken; how to fix it, unknown. That’s probably a better way of stating what I meant.
George – A better way of stating it is “We’re doomed.”
