Ron gives us his opinion of the hag Helen Thomas.
Inarguably, Thomas worked her way up from humble origins to a position of matronly prominence. She was energetic, ambitious, and determined. For that she deserves a measure of respect.
However, like many others who ascend to the top of the heap in reporting and analyzing current events, she developed an inflated opinion of the accuracy of her observations and the value of her analyses.
In other words, in the last years of her career she became tedious, self-repetitive, pretentious, and quite often wrong. The substance of her work ultimately rested more on her reputation than on her documentation.
Her attitude became presumptuous with a self-important perspective that came across less often as delightful and insightful and more like sneaky and cheeky. She morphed into a stale and tiresome echo of her earlier self.
Like an athlete past his prime but loathe to retire, she constructed a platform of triumphs and awards and attaboys she collected during her career and then stood atop it to vent her true anti-conservative feelings to a receptive liberal audience.
Like Kronkite and Rather before her, and Katie Couric later, she excoriated Republican leaders and lionized Democratic figures. Her self-directed attack on Israeli policies, which led to her resignation, finally revealed her true nature.
As age piled up on her and what little beauty she once possessed morphed into Medusa-like features, she believed her stature would permit her to defend her beloved Hizbollock heathens at the expense of Israelis who had transformed a wasteland into a garden.
She cannot accurately be called an anti-semite, but she was most assuredly anti-Israel and certainly no supporter of US policies where Arab states were concerned. Helen Thomas was a fixture in Washington for half a century, but like all fixtures, she eventually became corroded, leaky, and unreliable.
You’d think that someone who rubbed sleeves with movers and shakers for half a century would have realized that one “Aw, Shit!” wipes out a thousand attaboys. If she’d retired at the end of Clinton’s second term, she’d be remembered today as the Grand Old Dame of the American Press Corps instead of a washed-up, bitter, sour old hag who hung around too long and stunk up the place.
Ouch! That’s gonna leave a mark. Every word is true.

I wrote, on Erica’s post (Facebook) that Helen Thomas gave me des hauts-le-coeur. And I learned it meant: “dry heaves”, retching without vomit, a reaction which her looks, voice and words instigated in some people. She already paid on earth for the evilness of her thinking. My son (the good man) would say, “May God have mercy on her soul.” But I doubt her kind will ever rest in peace. It’s being said that she opened a road for women but she also closed it by making us very often wish that she would just shut up, and stop bungling historical and political facts to fit her fancy. And, as she showed by her inconsiderate remark about Jews, she certainly would have needed very much to explore the depth of human compassion.

Sadly, she certainly can be considered an anti-Semite. Anyone who professes a land should be Judenrein, where it’s legal population should be sent back to where millions of their brethren were gassed in ovens, is not just anti-Israel. It goes far deeper a psychosis that paralyzes one’s cognitive thought process.
Helen Thomas did very little in life to receive such accolades and would have remained anonymous if not for America’s obsession with the Kennedys. However, given her fame through this avenue, she did not utilize her position to better her profession, or even her fellow man. She was often belligerent to the point of embarrassing and did not always do a good job if hiding her own personal biases. Her comments on Israel surprised no one who ever heard her speak.
She didn’t break any major stories. Rat bastard Commie Eleanor Clift, in eulogizing Thomas, could only come up with one story that Thomas broke: the death of Caroline Kennedy’s hamster. 60 Minutes did a piece on her way way back when I still watched it, prolly because I was too lazy or too drunk to change the channel (before remote controls became ubiquitous) after the NFL football game on CBS, and pointed out that she ended all White House press conferences by saying, “Thank you, Mr. President.” She was an unabashed liberal who fawned on Dimocrat presidents and was belligerent to Republican presidents, as was most of the rat bastard commie White House press corps (or as Obungler would say, “White House press corpse).
Here’s why I said she Thomas can’t be called “anti-semitic.” She was born in Lebanon and grew up during a period of massive Jewish immigration into what is now Israel. Technically, by ethnicity she is a semite herself, so calling her anti-semitic is a somewhat misapplied term.
As a result of persecution of Jews in the 30s and 40s in Europe, however, the term Semitic somehow got morphed into some kind of synonym for “Jew” and made “anti-semitic” rhetorically equal to “anti-Jew.”
Today it is a pejorative term which few understand, but its use is basically the same as the way “nigger” (which was nothing more than a lazy pronunciation of the word negro, which meant “black”) is used in America, as a derogatory or disparaging term with racial origins. The problem is that Palestinian Jews and Arabs are not only the same race, but they’re first cousins.
So when Thomas spouted off about the Jews in Palestine taking away the land of “her people,” she was indeed talking about the Polish and German and Russian immigrant Jews, not the ones who stuck around after the Diaspora.
In fact, Thomas rarely used the term Jew, and was probably rather ambivalent about the religious aspects involved, particularly since she was not Muslim but either Maronite or Greek Orthodox Catholic.
She was simply anti-Israel and felt that the land occupied and ruled by non-Arabic immigrants rightfully belonged to Palestinians, whatever the hell that is. Her solution to the problems of the Mediterranean area of the Middle East was to dissolve the Israeli state and let resident Arabs establish their own state there.
So she can’t accurately be called anti-semitic or a Jew hater, but merely anti-zionist. And an closed-minded,anti-conservative, good-for-nothin asshole.
bocopro – Rather pedantic but true. That is why, technically Arabs can’t be called antisemitic, since they, themselves are Semites. Our three great world religions were all founded by Semites. Pretty amazing when you come to think about it. They all came from this little part of the world.

I would prefer to say that she was the sphincter of the White House Press Corps. And we all know what comes out of a sphincter, don’t we. Needless to say, Helen Thomas will not, repeat, NOT, be missed.
If true, then I somewhat somewhat sorry for Billy Jeff, but feel Øbama got exactly what he deserves.
