New Approach Lighting At SFO

After the recent crash of the Korean airliner at San Francisco, they put in new approach lighting. Toejam sent me a picture of it.

On a related note, the San Francisco TV station that erroneously announced the names of the pilots as Sum Ting Wong, Wi Tu Lo, Ho Li Fuk, and Bang Ding Ow (Which are obviously not Korean but Chinese names) fired three staffers involved with the story. They didn’t fire the news reader, who, upon reading them didn’t bat an eye, but should have known they were phony. Just because someone is reading the news, doesn’t make him or her smart. Most of them, who are hired for their looks, are dumb as stumps which is ironic because they’re the ones who keep saying how dumb Republicans, like Sarah Palin, are. Just like actors, who are pretty stupid themselves, they can only read words that someone else has written for them.

  1. Never mind the un-fired newsreader; consider how many hands that report must have passed through on its way to the bimbo. Not to mention overseers. Any one of them could have spoken up and stopped the process. Nobody did. Not one person. For crying out loud, somebody had to enter those goofy names as text. This says something, not only about morons, but about the bureaucratic mindset. Sheep. People too cowed or beaten senseless to observe the obvious. Sort of like in “Atlas Shrugged”, where the coal-burning train is dispatched into the tunnel, even though it was generally understood that that everyone on board would be asphyxiated. When I read that, I wondered whether Rand’s imagination was painting people as being even stupider than they are. But now I believe it.

    • Yeah. And the LSM looks down on us lowly bloggers because we don’t have the multiple layers of fact checkers that they have. This lowly blogger could have looked at those names and immediately have known they were fake. In college, the dumbest students usually get education degrees. The second dumbest go into journalism.

  2. Somebody wasn’t going to go, and it wasn’t going to be the “talent”. Canning her would remind people every day about what happened. Far easier to fire some faceless producers who no one knows and will likely be able to find new jobs.
