One of the dumbest people in Congress, Sheila “Is the Mars Rover anywhere near the flag the astronauts planted?” Jackson Lee wants to change the word “welfare” to “Transitional Living Fund”. (Thanks to all the readers who sent me this story.)
(CNSNews.com) – In a brief speech on the House floor Wednesday, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) hailed the war on poverty, endorsed government welfare programs, and said the “safety net has to be something for all of us.”
“Maybe the word welfare should be changed to something of, ‘a transitional living fund.’ For that is what it is — for people to be able to live,” she said.
For people to be able to sit on their asses and steal money from the productive members of society. That’s what it really is.
Yep. That’s what liberals progressives rat bastard commies like to do. It’s what they did with affirmative action. Affirmative action got a bad rap so they changed it to Diversity (All Hail Diversity!). Yeah. Now it’s supposed to include women, gays, crips, and Hispanics. Asians aren’t included since they don’t need it. Make no mistake. Diversity (All Hail Diversity!) is mainly for blacks. Look who is usually in charge of Diversity (All Hail Diversity!) programs in business. It’s almost always a black dude.
Progressive became a bad word, so they changed it to liberal. Now liberal is a bad word, so they’ve changed it back to progressive, Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Welfare is supposed to be transitional living. It wasn’t supposed to be a way of life, at least that’s how LBJ and the Dims sold it. It was supposed to be a “hand up, not a hand out”, in the words of LBJ. And, when they sold it, the LSM didn’t show poor black people. They showed poor white people in Appalachia. These were the people it was supposed to help, so they said. What do we have now? We have multi-generational welfare. We have families who know nothing else. There is nothing transitional at all unless you want to count the fifteen year old girl who gets preggers and transitions from her mama’s Section 8 housing to her own Section 8 housing. That’s the only transition you’ll see.
So, to Sheila for trying to make welfare sound like sumpin’ it isn’t, I’m giving her the AOTW Award.

I think her idea has merit…in keeping with the transitional idea , lets put a limit on the transition time to 12 months thereby being able to help others in need…when your limit is reached you can get off your lazy ass and either hunt a job or start living with your babydaddy or your babymomma…

Anyway, those who have read my posts know I am not reticent by any definition but I did run across a really ignorant welfare lizard who posted the following of which I chose to post only the highlights of his diatribe about long term unemployment compensation.
1.Long Term Unemployment is about to be taken away from those who need it the most, the professionally unemployed!
2. Those who have dropped out of the workforce need this money to survive on & they are entitled to it.!
3.Even if a person voluntarily CHOOSES to cease being a part of the labor force , society must assure that person does not lose their self esteem or suffer embarrassment for having adopted a life style to optimize ones personal quality time to enjoy & experience life.
4. Just because one reaches a decision to not work it is still morally the responsibility of the rest of society to provide that individual with a living income & health care . No one should ever be penalized for not working.
5. At a bare minimum all unemployed people are entitled to at least the equivalent of 40 hours at a revised minimum wage of $15.00 per hour + healthcare . It is not only the fair thing do do , it is the right thing to do !
I admit my first thought was this must be a hoax & did not respond but since then many supportive posts have been posted so the realization of just how much the “American Can Do” spirit has been compromised has kind of set me back on my heels a bit.
