The earth has made another revolution around the sun, I’ve survived another year with no injuries. No strokes. No subdural hematomas, altho’ I may take care of that in a couple of weeks when I’m skiing at Snowmass in Colorado.
I want to thank all of my readers who read my stuff and all of the commenters who comment here. I also want to thank all of you who send me stories to post about and all of you who send me boobage, puns, and uninformed voter jokes. You make writing this blog easier for me. Even some of the hate mail is funny. I have some aging liberal wacko in Canada (not you Claudia) who emails me now and then to “correct” me on sumpin’ he claims I have wrong. I feel sorry for him. Alzheimer’s disease is a sad way to go. Thankfully for him, he emails me rather than commenting on the blog where some of my regulars would tear him up and ridicule him.
I’m looking forward to another year of Claudia demonstrating her mastery of English, her second language, with her contributions to the Monday Puns. Her puns are almost always better than the puns I post.
I’m also looking forward to another year of Ron’s writings and, yes, Toejam’s boobage critiques. I don’t understand his obsession with man nipples. Maybe his ex-wife has big aureoles.
Outside of our country being in decline, Obungler and the Dimocrats trying to destroy the best healthcare in the world (if you don’t believe that, compare our cancer survival rates to other industrialized countries), and the increase of racial tensions (so much for Obumbler being the “post racial” president) it has been a good year in GOC Land. For a crip, I’m in relatively good health. My sister’s cancer is being held in check. The rest of my family is doing OK. I did lose one member of my generation in my family, the first one to go, but as Don Surber would say, “He lived his three score and ten.” Plus eight bonus years. There is still one surviving member of the previous generation and she is in good health. She will prolly outlive me.
Thanks to all of you for a great year for my blog. It’s still fun to write.
Can we please get this little detail straight? According to the dictionary:
Areola (plural areolae or areolas):
Aureola
Thank you for saying that. It has been bugging me too, but I just hadn’t taken the time to look it up to make sure!
Blessings and joy be yours this coming year.
I appreciate who and what you are and I take comfort in knowing there are others like us – despite what the MSM would have us believe.
And I hope you keep ‘er up for years to come. Going through your blog list there, and I’m suprised how many dead ends there are…..So have a good year and keep ripping away at them:)
Happy 2014 Denny! Liberty is more fun, more demanding, and more rewarding. Go for it! Fight for it!
Thank-you so much for your blog and viewpoint. You do a great job of pointing out the hypocrisy in the media and liberal’s in general. I hope 2014 is a good year for you. You right about the country being in decline. It pains me to see a once great nation go down the crapper, but that exactly what happening now. I am just sorry that I will live to see more of this not less. Take care Denny, I hope to read more of your blog soon.
Yeah, I genuinely enjoy bumpin nouns and verbs together, sometimes makin ’em march in lockstep, sometimes doin a jitterbug, and occasionally a formal waltz which morphs into a cha-cha toward the end.
I’ll keep pumpin it out, but you and I are relics, you know . . . we write essays and critiques, and nobody really wants to read more than a paragraph or two these days.
It’s also a bit unnerving how similar our “voices” are in our stuff and how often our ideas sound as if they washed up on the dock from the same stream of thought.
I do it mostly for the mental calisthenics, like a daily exercise program for the mind. Most fun is havin a dream, then sittin here developin characters and insertin ’em into the plot and see how they react. Quite often they come up with ideas or reactions or solutions that tell me things about myself I didn’t really wanna hear. That’s when I take the manuscript out to the back yard cathartically burn it page by page to cleanse my soul of the demons one of my renegade characters exposed for me.
Bon chance, mon frere. Non carborundum illegitimi.
And I do it as an outlet. Yeah, we often sound alike. We grew up in the 50’s and it was a much different time then.
Thanks for all you do. Keep fighting the good fight!
Happy New Year and many more. Blog like the wind!
Hi Denny
Just want to add my accolades to your great blog.
I enjoy all the contributions from your guest bloggers, especially Claudia.
Your boobage is appreciated, but not when wifey is around. Always ready with the X when I hear her approaching. Altho, at 88, I don’t hear as good as I used to, and she’s gonna catch me eventually.
Wish a very Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and all your sycophants.
Jim Carlson
Happy New Year, and Keep Up The Good Work! You are one of the primary reasons my mother stays in her home rather than move into assisted living. She would lose the freedom to check her blogs every day if she went into a home, plus she would have to give up her guns. Yep, you rank right up there with Mom’s gun collection! Have fun on the ski slopes, and come home safe!
Wow! Thanks for giving me yet another reason to keep on blogging. My best to your Mom!
Happy New Year, Denny! I’m looking forward to another year of reading your posts!
Happy New Year Denny. May 2014 be a great year for you.
Keep up the good work – we need folks like you to bring the national average IQ up rather than down.
Denny- your blog is appreciated more than you know. It’s the first one I hit every day, even before VFTP (smart, beautiful chick who loves bikes and guns) and when we have bonus days with stuff from Ron and Claudia, I realize just how good life can be.
As always, your service to our Country is always appreciated, even if you did wear one of those funny-lookin’ sailor suits.
Have a good blogging year, Denny! The older you get, the better you are. Please, keep it up. That’s the motto I have lived by. And, so far, it has served me well. The world might be doomed. But, by God, let us stay aware about the predicament we’re in and shed some light on what’s happening. The climate change around us is a lot more serious than the geological ups-and-downs of Planet Earth. Whenever I see us being excruciating polite, and even apologetic to some groups who are incredibly rude and ignorant, I think that we’re out of control and live in an asylum run by psychos. I would deeply despair if I could not come here to make sure that I’m not one of them. And that a few other people have remained sane. It’s such a relief to read concise, enlightened writing giving hell to the ” booger eatin’ mohrons” who are destroying our civilized lifestyle. You and Ron are not only kindred spirits but also great stylists. You each have your very unique, brilliant ways to present those dark hours with a fighting spirit. And how not to admire Toejam’s panache in his weekly description of what might eventually save the world.
My mother always said, “You’re judged by the company you keep!’ It’s a honour to be accepted by you and your friends. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Happy New Year to all!
Denny, you may have fun writing your blog, but we have a ball reading it. It’s the first one I hit every morning. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Denny, for me you keep the world balanced!
Denny………I have been following your blog for many years , you & the loyal cast of characters are almost like family. I guess more accurately my circle of friends now spans the Continental expanse of North America due to your blog & the blogging friends I have communicated with with some international matchups as well.
Hell, I even appreciated Prosper & DanS where ever they now happen to be, I wish they would jump in now & then …..Double D Teresa as well.
Anyway keep up the good work my friend , Grouchy you maybe but the influence you have is indeed monumental.
