Great rootsy stuff. My favorite rock bands have always been the ones with the unflappable work ethic, focus, and creativity like Rush, Kiss, AC/DC, etc. They had a singular mission, sound, or style and they were not going to be denied, regardless of what the critics think. That, by the way, is the true definition of “alternative.” Even if they don’t appeal to your tastes they should be admired for their conviction. They made history. It was a great time to be a guitar player.
I heard somewhere that Rush has never had their picture on the cover of the rollin’ stone. Probably true as I’m sure they could give a sh*t !
As an aside Denny, my son was married to Alex’s niece at one time here in BC (Canada). She was a very nice girl…good looking and smart too…Her and I really hit it off and she called me Dad…we had lots of yuks together
Love Rush’s music, hate the lead singer’s voice. One day, with a lot of therapy and testosterone, maybe his ‘nads will drop, and he’ll lose that pre-teen, adenoidal voice.
And the yelping. Oh, please, do learn to sing without yelping!
I have to agree with you there. I’ve never liked Geddy’s voice. They surely could have found someone who could sing better than he does. He is q kickass bass player.
