Satellite data shows that Arctic sea ice is getting thicker as Antarctic sea ice extent continues to expand to near record levels, according to a report issued by the US National Snow and Ice Data Center, in Boulder Colorado, today, 5 February 2014.

Satellite data shows that Arctic sea ice was 50 per cent thicker in Autumn 2013 than it was in Autumn 2012, according to the US National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC).
Data from the European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) CryoSat satellite which is equipped to measure the thickness of sea ice using radars shows that Arctic sea ice volumes grew by 50 per cent last year. This is due to an increase in ice thickness, since sea ice extent declined by around 3 per cent.
I can hear it now. Remember how the true believers said that the record cold we are experiencing in the continental US was because warming at the North Pole pushed cold air South? Yep. Me too. Our pet liberal told us that. I guess now that sea ice at the North Pole is thickening, it’s because warm air in the continental US is pushing cold air North and that’s what’s causing the sea ice to thicken.

Another reason we know that the Global Warmists are walking around with their heads up their asses is their pathetic efforts to explain why the weather is not cooperating with their predictions. There are several things about air that are true. One is that cold air is denser than warm air. Warm air does not push cold air, cold air pushes warm air. Warm air can be pulled along behind cold air but it can’t push it down from the arctic or from anywhere else. Cold air is less able to carry moisture than warm air. Most snow is caused when cold air rides under warm air, as the warm air cools it drops its water which falls through the cold air mass. Warm and cold are relative terms and may be only a degree or so. The Arctic Vortex is very cold, dry air that is so dense that it pushes the continental air mass before it and as it interacts with any warm , moist air it encounters. The recent snows in the far west and south were the result of that cold air mass coming into contact with warm pacific air and warm air from the gulf. Its cold because the Sun is in a solar minimum not because of my SUV. Al Gore notwithstanding.
