More Global Warming News

What you have to remember is that AGW is a religion. If you can keep the faith, you can declare that global warming causes everything. Droughts? Global warming. Floods? Global warming. More storms? Global warming. Remember, almost every year the AGW crowd predicts more and more powerful hurricanes. Hasn’t happened. It has been comparatively peaceful in the Caribbean over the last few years. More powerful winter storms? Of course that has to be global warming, which makes me wonder, if we had global cooling would that mean we would have less powerful winter storms?

So, this winter we have had record cold and record storms. We are experiencing a salt shortage.

CHICAGO — As piles of snow grow taller during this seemingly endless winter, the mounds of salt for spreading on the nation’s icy, slushy roads are shrinking, forcing communities to ration supplies or try exotic new ice-melting substances.

Cities have already gone through most of their salt well ahead of the time they traditionally really need it — when the coldest part of winter gives way to temperatures just warm enough to turn snow into freezing rain and sleet and roads into ribbons of ice.

“If we don’t get the salt, at some point people are going to be sliding all over the place like what you saw in Atlanta,” said Julius Hansen, public works director in the Chicago suburb of Glen Ellyn, citing last week’s television images of thousands of motorists getting stranded on ice-covered roads in the South.

So far this year, Glen Ellyn’s snow-removal crews have responded to 31 storms.

“In an average winter, we have 20,” Hansen said.

So, we’re having a record winter as far as storms are concerned. It has to be caused by global warming because global warming is responsible for everything.

  1. If AGW is a religion, then the non-establishment clause of the First Amendment should disallow any public policy based on it, and no teaching of it in schools.

The trick is getting it officially classified as a religion. It is easy to distinguish science from religion: Science is based on reliably reproducible results; Religion is based on dogma and faith.

There is nothing wrong with dogma and faith; it merely isn’t objectively provable or knowable, which is why we have the free excercise clause and the non-establishment clause in the First Amendment. The founders were very wise, beating the crap out of the intellectually lazy poli-sci academicians that pass for “brilliant” today.

  2. We have plenty of salt left. Where we normally get six to ten feet of snow we have had virtually none this year. While it has been cold as hell, -4 last night and -8 set for tonight, all of the storms have missed us, if they came at all. Something about a stationary high and a dipping jet stream. For whatever reason the far west has been dry in relative terms. It’s called weather, the climate has not changed enough to cause notice. At 3575 ft elevation I could care less about sea level rise, and if we get warmer winters and wetter summers the deer population will make it worthwhile to hunt them again. And I’m for that.

  3. The Erie Slime News discovers Global Warming is BS!
Well, our local birdcage liner people have woke up to the fact we are in the middle of winter & we might actually set an all time snow fall record for the season! A really really big story for this paper.
Our current total is 103.7″….. our all time official record is 149.6″. Yes we do have quite a lot of time left & there is a good chance but I think some how Erie will screw it up …the town is good at that.
Anyway I got to thinking just how much snow I have had to move or relocate during the 42 years I have lived here so…………First I computed the square footage then with an 8 & 1/2 foot annual total figured the cubic footage & multiplied what one season was by 42 & came to a total of 20,230 cubic yds of snow. Hell, I probably could have dug out that ship down in Antarctica all by myself if thay had called.
Thank God for Snow Blowers…I have an Ariens 10 horse gas machine x 30″ width of cut which is 20 years old, prior to that I used snow shovels. This unit has never had a serious problem just regular maintenance + shear pins once & a total of 3 spark plugs.
I was going to buy a new one & take this one to my hunting camp but the dealer told me keep this one & find something else for camp because nothing on the market today is as good as what I have.
Atlanta was paralyzed with 2″ of snow ….wonder what they would have done with the 10 + inches we got yesterday here in Erie.
