Here’s some more Cactus.
Cactus was created from the ruins of Vanilla Fudge, Carmine Appice on drums and Tim Bogert on bass. Vanilla Fudge’s best known song was a slow version of You Keep Me Hanging On, so it’s no surprise that Cactus would slow down Long Tall Sally and turn it into a heavy metal song.
How are you feeling?
You can catch the harmonies of Appice and Bogert singing backup like they did in Vanilla Fudge. Both of these cuts are from their second album which I consider to be their best work. There is not a single cut on that album that I do not like.
Denny, thanks for this great R&R. You turned me on to Tommy Bolin, and coming home from work Friday night, top down, 70 degrees, 11 PM, blaring the alternate take of Wild Dogs was over 13 minutes of karmic ecstasy. I hope I awakened many sleeping residents. God knows I get awakened with thumping rap enough.
