One of the nation’s biggest labor groups said Thursday it would sever ties with the United Negro College Fund over the fund’s relationship with conservative billionaire Charles Koch.
The fund recently accepted a $25 million donation from Koch Industries and the Charles Koch Foundation to pay for 3,000 scholarships for African-American students and to help support the fund and historically black colleges and universities. The college fund’s CEO, Michael Lomax, also spoke at a recent summit of the conservative political network organized by Charles Koch and his brother, David Koch.
Lee Saunders, the president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, said the fund’s actions are “not only deeply hostile to the rights and dignity of public employees, but also a profound betrayal of the ideals of the civil rights movement.”
Saunders said the union would end its partnerships with the college fund effective Sept. 1. Those joint efforts include scholarships for college juniors and seniors. The union has 1.6 million members.
Buncha hypocrites! The Koch brothers prolly give more to the UNCF than the union does anyway. This is just like teachers unions oppose charter schools for poor black kids. Maybe one day blacks will wake up and realize that Dimocrats and unions are not their friends.
So to Saunders and your union thugs who don’t really care for black people here’s an award for you.
Unions were the last bastion of segregation. Blacks were excluded from most of them until the 70’s and then only after federal intervention. Dems, unions and the KKK have a common history.
While Harry Reid beats up on the Koch brothers they give more money to the arts and science than almost anybody else. The David Koch Fund for Science funds Nova and Nature for PBS. Eat shit Harry, and you too Saunders.
Conservatives give more per capita to charity than liberals do. Red states give more per capita than blue states. The reason is conservatives are generous with their own money. Liberals are generous with other peoples’ money. I’ve stated this many times before, that when Pope Albert I of the Church of AGW first released his tax returns when he was VP, it was found that he gave less than $1000 to charity, which was less than my mother, who was living on $20K per year, gave. After that, he was shamed into giving more. The Clintons give their money to the Clinton Charitable Trust which is a scam. Remember, back when the Clintons were in Arkansas, Thunder Rodent Thighs deducted money for giving BJ’s old underwear away. Check out how much money the Bushes and Cheneys give to charity as opposed to how much Dimocrats who have about the same amount of wealth give. Of course, we don’t know how much Horrible Harry gives since he won’t release his tax returns while at the same time he demands Mittens and other Republicans to release theirs. Hypocrites all the way down.

I believe I heard that the union’s contribution was around $50K. Comparing typical liberal/conservative ratios of charitable donations the union seems to be keeping pace just fine.
