You’ve heard about what’s been going on in Detoilet? People who haven’t been paying their water bills are pissed off about their water being shut off. Besides saying that water is a human right (Really? Frickin’ Really?) they also say it’s racist since it’s only black people who are getting their water shut off. Yannow why it’s only black people who are getting their water shut off? It’s because they’re the only people who aren’t paying their frickin’ water bills! Geez!
Now, in Alabama, we have even more pissed off parasites.
MONTGOMERY, Alabama — An estimated 200,000 low-income Alabamians who receive free cellphone service through a federal program will have to pay a state tax that supports 911 services starting Aug. 1.
Groups opposing the change wrote a letter to Gov. Robert Bentley this week. The company that provides the free cellphone service under the federal Lifeline program has filed a lawsuit to block it.
They’re getting free cellphones and are pissed about having to pay a minor tax to support 911 services. The gummint is paying for their food and shelter and giving them a free phone but that’s not enough. So just how much is this tax?
The monthly tax, which applies to cellphones and landlines, will increase from $1.60 to $1.75 a month starting Aug. 1, in addition to being expanded to include Lifeline users.
$1.75 a month and these freeloaders are pissed off about that. I’ll bet they have money for cigarettes and lottery tickets.

A letter from seven organizations to the governor that was distributed as part of a press release this week called the tax on Lifeline users “punitive.”

“Alabama’s E-911 Board has gone where no other state has seen fit to go before: It has for no valid public policy reason imposed a punitive phone tax targeting the poorest of its poor residents who receive wireless Lifeline telephone service at no cost,” the letter says.

I have known people like this. They will always have money for lottery and cigarettes and beer, or some sort of alcohol. Always never ceases to amaze me.
Several years ago my wife won a trip for four to Disneyland. Airfare, rental car when we got there, rooms at the Disneyland hotel, private breakfast with Mickey Mouse, and a side trip to Universal studios. People ask me if I was pissed that I had to pay income tax on the $4,000 value of the trip. These are prolly the same people that tell me they don’t have to pay income tax. They say the guvmint gives them a refund. I don’t discuss finances with them.
Every year around April 15, Neal Boortz used to ask his listeners to ask people how much they had to pay in taxes. He said that most of them would say, “I didn’t have to pay anything. I got money back.” Ah. The magic of withholding. I know some otherwise intelligent people who would say this. As I always say, abolish withholding and schedule elections on April 16. The tax code would be fixed really quickly.
Yeah, the parasites in Detroit are all upset at having their water shut off because they weren’t paying their water bills. But at the same time they found money for cable TV and cellphones!
