The death toll from Chicago’s bloody holiday rose on Tuesday to 16 after two men who had been shot over the Fourth of July weekend died from their wounds.
Over the course of 84 hours during the Independence Day holiday in Chicago, 82 people were shot, prompting calls from Mayor Rahm Emanuel to put a stop to gun violence in the city.

Speaking to an audience at the Miles Davis Magnet Academy on the city’s South Side, Emanuel called for better policing, better education, stronger gun laws and “building a sense of community” to address the city’s gun violence.
They’re already breaking the existing laws. How are more gun laws gonna help?
“I ask all Chicagoans, regardless of where you live … end the gun violence in our city,” Emanuel said, in video captured by the Sun-Times. “Wherever you are, wherever you live, the gun violence that was part of this weekend is totally unacceptable.”

Chicago has become the poster child for urban violence, fueled by gangs and involving drive-by shootings or attacks from cars on other vehicles. People of all ages have been shot on streets and in some cases while sitting on their porches. The weekend carnage is the greatest spate of gun violence so far this year, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Yet homicides have actually been going down since 2012 when the city surpassed 500. By 2013, the number of homicides had fallen to 415, still the largest in the nation and substantially more than New York City, with less than 350 and Los Angeles at 255. When computed as the number of murders per 100,000 people, Detroit zooms to the top of the heap in a virtual tie with New Orleans. But Chicago still has the largest number of killings.
Hmmmm! What do Detoilet, Nawlins, and Chicago all have in common? The story doesn’t mention the big ol’ elephant sitting in the room. It doesn’t mention the race of the perps or the victims ’cause that would not be politically correct. The above named cities all have large black populations (Detoilet is 83% black) and it is those populations who are doing the killing.
The rest of the story is just more yada yada yada crap and then we come to the final paragraph.
“The city of Chicago does not have a problem of too few guns,” Emanuel noted in May. “There are way too many guns from shops in Cook County and from neighboring states that come into the city of Chicago. On any given weekend, our police officers take more guns off the streets than either New York or L.A.”
And even with taking all those guns off the streets people are still getting killed. Ya wanna stop the killings? Take the black thugs off the streets. It’s not the guns. It’s the thugs shooting them.
The ONLY gun control is how you hold a gun. Anything else is nonsense.

In Mpls there was a spate of killings over the July 4th weekend. Everyone got on the news to talk about it. The police chief said she was going to walk the beat in the worst area. She did. A couple of hours later 3 women were shot in the same area. Yes, they are all black.
I have been an observer for several years. I will not be visiting this website again.
If you give cocaine freely to the masses, more will become addicted.
If you provide guns freely to the masses, more people will be killed.
It does not matter if the gun holder is black or white. It is too easy in the USA to put a gun in wrong hands, regardless of race. Reduce the guns and you will (statistics prove it) reduce the killings.

Yet the cities and states with the least amount of gun control laws have the least amount of gun deaths while the cities with the strictest gun control laws, like Chicago and Washington DC have the highest amount of gun deaths. Outlawing guns–which is what I think you are proposing–will only create a black market for firearms. Criminals will smuggle, sell, buy, and use illegal guns. The majority of law-abiding citizens (me not included) will surrender their firearms to keep from going to jail. So the problem can’t be solved this way.
Great idea. I’m sure having a law like “no guns allowed” will certainly put a stop to the gun violence in Chiraq. Then they need to pass a law against possessing crack and other drugs in order to put a stop to that as well. Oh wait…..never mind.
Chicago is an place. Blacks and whites are almost equal in terms of population. Whites comprise 35.98 percent and Blacks make up 34.02 percent. Yet Blacks are more than ten times more likely to die by gunshot. Thirty four percent of the population accounts for 79.6 percent of murder victims. Only 7.9 percent are white while Hispanics make up the remaining 13 percent.

Let me explain, here in Erie a small dying town along the shore of Lake Erie we have a population of some 200,000 in the town & adjacent suburbs with a black population of 13% .
For most failed or dying cities this percentage is remarkably low but what astounds our democratic liberals is this population segment is responsible for 70% of violent crime such as murder, home invasion, drive by shootings & robberies despite the very high involvement of liberal do good agencies to provide free food, healthcare, housing, summer job & recreational programs for the teenage gang bangers.
What the more intelligent of us understand is the liberal elite think the black crime wave is due to a belief the black community is underserved ….that`s right, UNDERSERVED!
All this liberal do good focus has done is instill an entitlement mentality with no concept for working,earning & providing for their own wishes , desires or necessities. Among this racial minority population is an almost universal belief whatever they want is there for the taking ,….after all Society owes them & must provide free.
With the pressures being generated by the Obama Economic recovery & society makeover coupled with the liberal supported invasion of other minorities the welfare dollar just does not stretch far enough to cover the cost for the leisured life style expected, enjoyed & entitled the black minority has grown used too. Hence an increase in crime with no regret , responsibility or accountability due to we failing to give free all they demand or require.
Mark my words ….In your area of the country or community as yet this may not be a reality but since our Democratic leadership refuse to protect us, our families or property …..we must be prepared to do this ourselves.
