One of my old IBM buddies told me he voted for him in 2012 because “he kept us out of a depression”. Floored me. His brother is a union dude, and my buddy worked as a pipe fitter for a while so I think it was his union genes talking. It answered a lot of questions about why I am so much better off financially than he and his wife even though they are DINKs (Dual Income No Kids). We’re the same age. I’ve been retired for ten years. Both of them are still working.
