Yesterday, all 50 states posted freezing temperatures. Yes, Hawaii too, on one of its mountains. So, right on cue, uber liberal Jay Bookman, a columnist for the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation wrote a column on global warming. He trotted out the old canard about how global warming causes climate extremes, I guess to explain the climate extreme we’re going through this week and the one we went through last winter. He also posted some phony statistics overlooking the fact that there has been no warming over the last eighteen years. He also claimed that this year in Atlanta was warmer than normal when, in fact, we just went through the mildest summer since I’ve lived here. He claims that rhododendrons in some southern areas no longer bloom because temperatures are rising in those areas and other bullshit. At least he didn’t use that phony 97% of climate scientists bullshit. How can that be when temperatures aren’t rising?

If you look at the record of global temperature data, you will find that the late 20th Century period of global warming actually lasted about 20 years, from the late 1970s to the late 1990s. Before that, the globe was dominated by about 30 years of global cooling, giving rise in the 1970s to media discussions of the return of the Little Ice Age (circa 1450 to 1850), or worse.

Yep. A few years ago I posted an article in Time from back in the 70’s that said we needed to worry about global cooling.

But the record of satellite measurements of global atmospheric temperatures now shows no warming for at least 17 years and 5 months, from September, 1996 to January, 2014, as shown on the accompanying graphic. That is surely 17 years and 6 months now, accounting for February.

And I can still remember early in the Aughts, Pope Albert I of the
Church of AGW said we would be past the point of no return in 10 years. We’ve passed it and we’re still OK. He also said the internal combustion engine was horrible and was destroying the world. It needed to be replaced by sumpin’ else by 2015. He rides in gas guzzling SUVs. None of his doomsday scenarios have taken place. Likewise those of Paul Erlich who, back in the 70’s said we would run out of food by the end of the century. None of the scenarios predicted by these prophets of doom have come to pass. None. Of. Them. And, as Don Surber sez, “I’ll start believing we have problem when the guys who lead these movements start acting like it and adjust their lifestyles.” Meanwhile Pope Albert has five mansions (maybe he had to give one or two of them to Tipper in the divorce) and his one mansion in Tennessee uses more energy in one month than the average family of four uses in a year. Yeah. He’s really worried about global warming. And then we have a liberal activist like Lenny DiCaprio who flies in his private jet or travels in his gas guzzling yacht to global warming protest sites. Sacrifice for thee but not for me.

When the period of no global warming began, the alarmist global warming establishment responded that even several years of temperature data does not establish a climate trend. That takes much longer. But when the period of no global warming gets longer than the period of actual global warming, what is the climate trend then?

Even worse for the theory of catastrophic, anthropogenic (human caused), global warming is that during this now extended period of no global warming mankind’s emissions of the carbon dioxide (CO2) that are supposed to be predominant in causing global warming continued to explode, with one third of all CO2 added to the atmosphere since the industrial revolution occurring during this period. The Economist magazine shocked the global warming establishment with an article in March, 2013 that began with this lede:

“OVER the past 15 years air temperatures at the Earth’s surface have been flat while greenhouse-gas emissions have continued to soar. The world added roughly 100 billion tonnes of carbon to the atmosphere between 2000 and 2010. That is about a quarter of all the CO2 put there by humanity since 1750.”

Yet we’re still alive and the planet isn’t burning up. Quite the contrary. We had a bad winter which the gummint blamed for the drop in GDP for the first quarter. I expect another bad winter this year. We’re already getting started with some records of early snowfall in the country. Ask the people in Buffalo and Erie what they think of global warming about now.

The whole AGW movement is a scam. It’s a plan to destroy our gummint by the liberals progressives rat bastard commies. It’s also a way for poor nations to get rich nations to give them money. That’s the whole purpose of the UN’s IPCC.

The planet isn’t warming. We’re OK. Every dollar we throw at this nonexistent problem is a dollar we are wasting. Prime example: Solyndra.
