Here is Ron writing on race. Lot of truth here. Of course, most blacks who read this would accuse him of racism.
Haven’t ranted in a quite a while. Ate too much lunch (leftover turkey & dressing & yams & cranberries) and had a hard nap. Woke up feelin tired and heavy . . . turned on the TV and what do I see — “No Justice, No Peace” and Louis Farrakhan urging blacks to burn the place down, as if Sharpton giving advice to Soetoro in a cabinet meeting isn’t enough. “Justice!” Hell, most people’s concept of justice is a controversial court decision that went in their favor or a lynching if it didn’t. So, time to get it off my chest (kinda long, so . . . .):
In sports, winning is almost impossible without some effort toward training and preparation for the contest. If blacks and latinos want to compete successfully in a complex society, they need to acquire and perfect the skills necessary, just as if they were competing in a baseball or basketball game.
Makes no difference how strong or agile or fast someone is, if he doesn’t know the intricacies of football, or basketball, or baseball, or tennis, or soccer, or even golf, sooner or later he’ll be overwhelmed and embarrassed by someone smaller, or weaker, or slower than he is.
More than any other group of people, American blacks, who dominate most professional sports, should know that. In America, everyone has the right to attempt to play in pro sports. As the Declaration of Independence says, we all have the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; it says nothing about any guarantee of happiness.
The guys who make the big league teams have put in the time and effort to perfect skills, probably since they were little kids. I know of no one who has become a successful athlete by simply walking onto a playing court or field, picking up the ball in his late teens or early twenties, and becoming rich by playing ANY game.
The primary reasons I became a moderate success in my two careers have little or nothing to do with the fact that I’m Caucasian, but that I stayed in school, listened to the lessons, read the books, and practiced the drills ‘til I got the point. While more than three-fourths of white US males finish high school in four years, only half of their black counterparts do, and barely more than half their latino counterparts do.
Attitudes about race didn’t seem to hold back individuals such as Clarence Thomas, or Ben Carson, or Condoleezza Rice. You simply don’t get to the SCotUS or Director of Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins or Secretary of the United States by blowing off high school and hanging around street corners talking trash and listening to rap “music” with your ballcap on backwards and your pants falling down.
Let’s face it; we’ve tried LBJ’s Great Society, school busing, Equal Opportunity, quotas in school admissions and government hiring, Welfare, Food Stamps, EBT cards, Diversity Education programs, Black Studies, TV shows based on black families, and textbooks minimizing or excluding traditional authors such as Longfellow and Twain and Shakespeare and Milton in favor of Maya Angelou, W. E. B. DuBois, Malcolm X, and Alice Walker.
Now, I get something over 100 channels on my TV package from ATT. At any time I can run a quick channel check and find that half the time I’m looking at a black face each time a new channel locks in. I almost NEVER see an Asian face, and very few Latino faces. But blacks comprise only around 14% of the total US population while Hispanics and Asians account for more than 23%.
If any large group is getting the shaft in the US, it’s Asians, but they consistently outperform blacks and latinos by wide margins in all academic fields, especially the sciences. In return for that, they’re often denied admission to prestigious schools so that unqualified or barely capable blacks can take their places. How much further backward does the country have to bend to accommodate an ethnic group which willfully rejects education, decorates its bodies with permanent graffiti, and idolizes the likes of Li’l Wayne, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, DMX, Samuel L. Jackson, and Al Sharpton?
I don’t pretend to know all there is about the St. Trayvon Martin case, or the St. Michael Brown case, or the St. Eric Garner case, but I know instinctively that the great majority of those who riot and burn and disrupt in their names know even less than I do about the cases. Why did the grand jury say that no indictment is warranted in the Garner case? I don’t know, and neither do the protestors. Twelve people . . . not just a single individual . . . decided that insufficient reason to indict the cop existed in the material available to them on the guy’s death.
Something else I know is that St. Trayvon was up to no good, and St. Michael was up to no good, and St. Eric had a long rap sheet as a shady character who tended to operate outside the law. The VAST majority of cops don’t just wake up every morning and ask themselves what they can do next to oppress and persecute black people. On the other hand, thousands, MANY thousands, of young black people have looted, burned, attacked, and even murdered in the name of race.
White people don’t riot after a black cop kills a white criminal. Latinos don’t riot after one of their cousins is killed by a cop. And Asians definitely don’t burn down their neighborhoods when an Asian is wrongly accused or injured or killed by authorities. But gangs of blacks think something is solved by the knockout game or the random flash-mob attacks on businesses, often including females, or by setting fire to businesses owned by other black citizens.
We don’t need a “conversation” on race in this country. What we need is for young black males to stay in school, get an education, and quit breaking the laws. And we need for the Al Sharptons and Louis Farrakhans and ESPECIALLY the President of the country and the Attorney General to stop inciting riots and encouraging groups of blacks to seek revenge for something they don’t – or WON’T – understand the truth about.
It makes me wonder . . . we have lots of white people who didn’t finish school and aren’t particularly bright, but they’re not rioting. We have lots of Latinos who didn’t finish school and don’t seem particularly interested in anything beyond their own doorsteps, so they’re not rioting. We have lots of Asians who endure prejudice and can’t even GET INTO schools because blacks have taken their seats, and they’re not causing any trouble.
Maybe it’s just that a greater percentage of blacks simply aren’t equipped for living in a society which feeds them, houses them, provides them with free education and health care. Maybe it’s all just a self-loathing lack of self-respect . . . a collective guilty conscience.
