New PC

I’m off to pick up my new desktop PC. I think I’ll order a new laptop so I can replace the dinosaur I’m using to write this post. It’s almost as old as my desktop.

    • I buy my PC’s from Vision Computer which is a local store, but you can buy online. I buy the ones that they build so I get what I want. I’ve had good luck with them (Had my last PC for 8 or 9 years) and they have great tech support. I got a bad virus about three years ago and they had to reload my OS and they saved all of my important data. The new one has a quad 4 processor and 32 Gigs of RAM. We’ll see how much performance I get especially with sites that are slow to load like Gateway Pundit.

      • I’ve heard great things about Vision. When I looked for my latest Lenovo, I checked them out but they did not have a laptop powerful enough for my needs. IF I ever sell my damned business (screw you kestrel aircraft), I’ll look again.

  1. I was always a ThinkPad using engineer, while they were owned by IBM, but made in china. Since the chinese have taken over ownership and renamed Lenovo, the last three I’ve had have been irritating as hell. Even a BIOS upgrade on my latest is ineffectual at eliminating the random failure to run properly. Will never buy another.
That said, if I had the bucks, it’d be a BOXX.

    • And I wouldn’t have the water supply to cool it. Back in the 80’s there was an IBM FE Specialist who had an old IBM mainframe (Can’t remember the model but it was water cooled) in his garage. He used his swimming pool for his chilled water supply. It had the added benefit of heating his pool. I thought the instructor who told me this was bullshitting me until I met the guy (he was a student in a class I taught) and talked to other people from his branch office.
