Here are some more pictures of The Great Master Bathroom Of Dunwoody. I took these in daylight so the lighting was much better. I also didn’t shrink them before uploading. Click on the images to enlarge.
This is the roll under sink which I will use most of the time. When I first moved in, I found a nice stool to sit on where the legs slanted back so I could get close to the sink. After that went, I couldn’t find one the right height or one that would let me get close enough to the sink. Now, this is perfectly crip accessible. This shot also gives a better look at the granite I selected for the counter tops and shower.
This is the tile I selected for the floor and around the tub.
Here is the light fixture that is over my sink. You can see the blue that I had the bathroom walls painted. The other vanity has two sets of lights. I chose these from some samples my sister sent me. One of the project manager’s foul ups was not having these fixtures at the start of the project. I told him before the project started that I wanted him to have everything he needed before he started work. I did not want to see any day when no one was working in that room. When the time came to install the lights, he found out they needed to be special ordered. It took ten days to get them. Inexcusable! I’ve worked on and planned multiple hardware and software IT projects so I know what goes into project management. It was inexcusable that I had to get the owner involved to get this project back on track. The owner made a great recovery.
A better shot of the shower with the frameless glass door. I had them put in a little alcove on the wall for my soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Not only is there a hand held shower feature, it has a regular shower head for normal people. In my old shower, the handheld device just hung there. Now, there is a place to stow it.
Here’s a good shot of the cabinets. They had to up the estimate because I picked out more expensive cabinets than they thought I would. These are top of the line. Even tho’ white is back in vogue, I went with off white. Someone on the other post remarked that I would have to live a long time to get a return on the investment of this upgrade. Kitchens and bath upgrades give you the most bang for your bucks, but I will never get back what I spent on this bathroom. I don’t care. Remember, I’m a SRF. I’m gonna live in this house until I die or have to enter a nursing home. I like nice things. What’s bad about this project, is it makes the rest of the house look like crap.
Next indoor project? My bedroom.

From what I’ve been able to see, you have an absolutely LOVELY home !
Well, not the kitchen since you upgraded a lot of it.
I need to get the cabinets in the kitchen refaced.
The bathroom is beautiful! As every householder finds, when you buy a new couch and bring it home you realize the carpet now looks shabby and the drapes look old, too. And if you’re going to replace them, you have to repaint …
man, this is beutiful! i wish I had the money to have something this beutiful, but ima still living in my parent’s basement. u are awesome! and this is a awesome blog! i dropped out of school, ima 34 and i cant finda job. any advice? ima french and havent had shower in a week.
Is the sink basin shaped like a vagina on purpose, Denny?
Denny- that crack about ROI just meant that we all want you to be around for years to come. Hell, at the time we grew up we did stuff playin’ around that’d give the modern nanny-state fits and we survived just fine. Next, the VC/NVA couldn’t get your ass, then you thrived in the halls of Big Blue and came away with enough bucks to be comfortable for the rest of your life. It’s your f**kin’ money and you can spend it as you see fit. Viva GOC.
Didn’t bother me. I could have prolly spent $10K less and still had a nice bathroom and recouped the money when I sold the house (or my sister sold the house) but I wasn’t looking for that. I’m at the age and rich enough to have nice things like two BMWs, a nice big house, and a deluxe master bathroom. Over the next two to three years, I plan on putting another $30K worth of improvements to GOC Central. The inside hasn’t been painted since I bought the house 17 years ago. I’ve put this stuff off for so long because I hate dealing with contractors. This project should not have taken six weeks and if I hadn’t got the owner involved, they would prolly not have finished it until this week. One of the technicians told me that the other project manager is much better organized than the one who ran my project.
Very nice Denny, Make sure you don’t let Alf and Ralph do the bedroom lol
Actually, I will prolly use that company again but ask for the other project manager who one of the techs told me is better than the one I got for this project. As I said, once I got the owner involved everything was corrected. This company is on Angie’s list and has a top rating from the Better Business Bureau.
Very nice, very nice indeed!
