Carly Does It Again

So, on Meet The Depressed, Chuck Todd played Seth Meyers when he asked her, just like Meyers did why she allowed someone else to register CarlyFiorina.org. Right after the interview she tweeted to Chuck Todd to check out chucktodd.org. Yep. Just like sethmeyers.org it takes you to her campaign site. I like this woman. She fights. And she snarks. I don’t think she has a chance to win the nomination but maybe VP?

  1. When I first heard of George W. Bush running for president, I instinctively (don’t ask me why my instincts drive me to do such things) checked the website name “georgebushsucks.com” (or something very much like that), and found it had already been purchased and redirected to the Bush website. This made me suspect that Bush was ahead of the game and would win.

There are so many possible variants that it’s impossible to nail them all down. But that CarlyFiorina.org was sitting around for claiming suggests to me that she is not a serious candidate.

It wasn’t “siting around for claiming” — as I understand it, the site has been up for years. It was started by disgruntled (AKA “fired”) former Hewlett-Packard employees who didn’t like the way she ran HP.

  2. A stupid anecdote: I was an early adopter of the Internet, but I didn’t pay much attention to the mad scramble for domain names, and missed my chance to pick up three-letter combinations or simple words, some of which later changed hands for real money. This was when ATI was the name of an independent graphic card maker, before it merged with AMD. So the ATI website was something like ATITech.com, and ATI.com linked to some crude page that displayed only the text, “Artificial Turd Implementations”. This was later updated to include a picture of a cat sniffing at a pile of crap. I figured that whoever bought that domain name had tried to sell it to ATI for a high price, and when ATI balked, the squatter decided to render the site unpleasant in order to motivate the sale. Anyway, eventually ATI got it somehow, but then the ATI name went away, so it all became irrelevant. (Currently ati.com goes to the AMD graphics page.) Which all goes to show something, but I don’t know what.

      • Mmm, prolly not. I shitcanned cable TeeeVeee a while back. That crap rots the mind but, there’s a steady flow of Boobus Americanus who’ll keep on paying for it.
