$15 an hour

My friend Pres sent me this.

15

Yep! You booger eatin’ moh-rons demanding $15 an hour for working at a fast food place will price yourselves out of the market so instead of getting $15 an hour you will get 0$ an hour. And I also say that if you are working at a fast food place over two years and are not in management, then you are a loser. In some of these sob stories they interview people who have worked at places like KFC for eight years and are crying because they can’t afford a family on that money. Guess what? You’re not supposed to. That’s an entry level job. If all you can do is fry chicken or flip burgers there’s sumpin’ wrong with you. You should be going to night school and learning how to do a real job.

When I was going to college, I worked part time delivering flowers. One of the drivers was in his forties and this was his full time job. I really felt sorry for him that this was the best he could do. He couldn’t do anything else. What’s more, he could only do one route. I could do them all. I went full time after I dropped out of college (I was burned out from working three jobs while going to school full time) and started looking for a real job. When I found one with IBM the owner wanted me to stay and asked what it would take. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! He might have been able to match the starting salary but he wouldn’t be able to match the benefits or the raise I would get after finishing training. I did go back and work on holidays for extra cash.

Heard On WGN

Woody sent me this one.

Last night I was driving home from dinner and listening to a sports call-in program carried by WGN in Chicago on SIRIUS/XL. People were calling in, very upset, about the goat’s head that was sent to Cubs owner Tom Ricketts at Wrigley Field.

Then some guy called in from Tennessee and said, “Why are you people so upset ’cause someone sent a goat’s head to Wrigley Field? Aren’t you Chicagoans the same guys that sent a horse’s ass to the White House?”

Special Women’s Boots

Poor babies. They need special boots. (Thanks to George for the story)

Congress is prodding the armed forces to come up with a special line of women’s combat boots, in different styles, as studies show that military women are more susceptible to stress fractures from marching and training.

Or maybe they just can’t handle the same marching and training that men can.

Female troops in Afghanistan have complained to a member of the House Armed Services Committee that they have limited options for acquiring combat boots designed for them.

The congressional move comes as selected women have undergone direct land combat training to determine if they can meet tough physical standards to become an infantryman or a commando. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter predicts that he will open most, if not all, such units to women by Jan. 1.

On the eve of such momentous social and battlefield change, Army women lack boots specially designed for generally smaller and narrower feet, say 10 congressional sources. The Army buys different boot styles for hot and cold weather, mountain and desert warfare and the rain.

Prompted by the Obama administration’s 2013 decision to strike down a ban on women in direct land combat units, a new report by the Armed Services Committee on fiscal 2016 spending says it’s time to feminize the combat boot to increase performance in marches, long hikes and combat.

I hope they come in cute colors as well. Are they gonna also lower standards by not making them carry as much equipment as men? I have nothing against women in combat as long as they can do the same job that men can. Special boots? GMAFB! The problem is they cannot do the same job as men and cannot hack the training required for rangers and other special ops people. I have the same problem with women cops and firefighters. It’s nice that little Ashley want’s to be a fireman but if she can’t haul my crippled ass out of a burning building she has no business in that job. Same with the military. If GI Jane can’t keep up with the weakest GI Joe she has no business being in that unit.

Needing “special boots” is just a symptom of the real problem. The majority of women do not belong in combat. It ain’t sexist if it’s the truth.

Global Warming News

Another day, more fakery concerning global warming climate change. (Thanks to Toejam for the link)

E-mails obtained from the Environmental Protection Agency show that Harvard University, Syracuse University and two of their researchers appear to have falsely claimed a study supporting EPA’s upcoming global warming rules was conducted “independent(ly)” of the agency.

No! I’m shocked! Shocked, I say! Global warming Climate change researchers lying? Perish the thought! I remember this site’s pet liberal telling us that this would never happen.

In early May, a study published in the journal Nature Climate Change purported to support a key EPA claim about its forthcoming global warming rules aimed at coal-fired power plants. The New York Times’ headline, “EPA Emissions Plan Will Save Thousands of Lives, Study Finds,” typified the media coverage.

Remember, Obungler declared a war on coal and coal fired electrical plants promising to “bankrupt them”.

Across the media, the authors were innocuously described as simply university-affiliated “researchers.” After all, the researchers had declared they had “no competing financial interests” in their study. Both universities had issued media releases heralding the study as the “first independent, peer-reviewed paper of its kind.”

Remember the followers of the cult of AGW keep telling us that the AGW deniers are all financed by the oil companies while their guys have no financial incentives to promote AGW?

Study co-author Charles Driscoll of Syracuse University told the Buffalo News, “I’m an academic, not a politician. I don’t have a dog in this fight.” The claim of independence was also emphatically asserted by study co-author Jonathan Buonocore of Harvard University. “The EPA, which did not participate in the study or interact with its authors, Buonocore says, roundly welcomed its findings.” [Emphasis added].

But a closer look at these claims of independence raises serious doubts.

Really? Tell me more.

An online search of EPA’s web site revealed that Syracuse’s Driscoll has previously involved as a principal investigator in studies that received over $3.6 million in research grants from EPA. Co-author Dallas Burtraw, a researcher at the think tank Resources for the Future, had been involved in previous EPA grants totaling almost $2 million. Harvard co-author Jonathan I. Levy had been involved in over $9.5 million worth of grants. Co-author Joel Schwartz, also of Harvard, had been previously involved in over $31 million worth of grants from EPA.

There’s lots of money to made on the junk science of AGW. Just ask Pope Albert I of the Church of AGW.

Are we to believe that a group of researchers who had previously received some $45 million in grants from EPA, no doubt hoping for more in the future, could possibly not have any dog in this fight? It’s probably not necessary to ask how this slipped past the incurious mainstream media.

Of course not. The LSM propaganda arm of the Dimocrat Party is all in on this. Anything that will destroy the American economy is good.

Intrigued by Bounocore’s odd assertion of absolutely no involvement with EPA, I submitted a request to EPA under the Freedom of Information Act for email between the study authors and EPA staff. Although subsequent wrangling with agency staff gave me doubt that I would ever get anything, I received, much to my surprise, 99 pages of emails after mere weeks.

Uh oh! someone at the EPA messed up.

The emails reveal that study co-authors Driscoll, Buonocore, Schwartz and Harvard’s Kathy Lambert were definitely in contact with key EPA staff regarding this research.

A July 8, 2014 email shows Lambert arranging a conference call with EPA staff to get EPA’s input on the study. One of the EPA staff involved was the contact person for agency’s Clean Power Plan cost-benefit analysis. A subsequent e-mail shows that the top EPA staffer on the Clean Power Plan cost-benefit analysis was added to the call.

A July 15, 2014 email from Driscoll to an EPA staffer boasts of “considerable interest” in their analysis from unnamed outside “groups.” One sentence after buttering up the EPA staffer, Driscoll asks her if they could have a phone call to discuss fundraising for a conference Driscoll is organizing. No appearance of attempted financial conflict there?

A November 7, 2014 e-mail from Lambert to EPA about the study reads, “We would like to follow back up with you by phone to discuss possible next steps in this analysis and what role you might be able to play.”

This issue goes deeper than mere truth-telling. The EPA’s controversial Clean Power Plan hinges on the notion that shuttering coal plants will save lives.

You know what else would save lives? Not aborting so many babies. But this is not about saving lives. It’s about crippling the US economy and eliminating cheap energy. Peel off the skin of an environmentalist and you’ll find a progressive liberal rat bastard commie inside. They don’t call ’em watermelons for nothing. Green on the outside and red on the inside.

The EPA’s proposed global warming plan ostensibly focuses on reducing carbon dioxide emissions from coal plants. But the bulk of the alleged benefits of the plan actually arise from collateral projections of lives supposedly saved by reducing coal plant emissions related to particulate matter and ozone.

As EPA values each life “saved” at about $10 million, the claim that the rules will save 6,600 lives per year puts the rules’ alleged benefits on the order of $66 billion per year, far in excess of industry projections of the rules’ costs.

Of course what about the cost of more expensive energy? Look at “the poor” who will not afford to run an air-conditioner due to the increased cost of electricity. I guess then the progressives liberals rat bastard commies will tell us that air-conditioning is a right.

These EPA claims, however, are controversial to say the least. A compelling alternate view is that no lives will be saved because, for one reason, EPA’s own extensive clinical research shows that particulate matter and ozone in outdoor air do not kill anyone.

The only casualty in this case is our confidence in the independence of EPA-funded researchers.

Yep! There’s lots and lots of gummint money to be made off the global warming climate change scam, especially in the age of Obumbler.

You Want The Truth?

Can you handle the truth? Paul sent me this.

And American voters were stupid enough to elect this turd not once, but twice. Obungler is only the symptom of our problem.

“We have met the enemy and he is us.” Pogo

As an aside, they tried to revive the comic strip Pogo after Kelly’s death and it failed. On the other hand, they revived the comic strip Nancy and it succeeded. WTF? Just another symptom of what is wrong with America. Nancy is one of the dumbest comic strips evah!

Monday Pun 6-8-2015

This one is from Toejam.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto walked into a saloon and sat down to drink a beer.

After a few minutes, a big tall cowboy walked in and announced: “Who owns the big white horse outside?”

The Lone Ranger stood up, hitched his gun belt, and said: “I do, partner….why?”

The cowboy looked at the Lone Ranger and said: “I just thought you’d like to know that your horse is just about dead!!”

The Lone Ranger and Tonto rushed outside and sure enough, Silver was ready to die from heat exhaustion. The Lone Ranger got his horse water and soon Silver started to feel a little better.

The Lone Ranger turned to Tonto and said: “Tonto, I want you to run around Silver and see if you can create enough of a breeze to make him start to feel better.”

Tonto replied: “Sure, Kemosabe” and took off running circles around Silver.

Not able to do anything else but wait, the Lone Ranger returned to the saloon to finish his beer.

A few minutes later, another cowboy strolled into the bar and asked: “Who owns that big white horse outside?”

The Lone Ranger stood up again, and claimed: “I do, what’s wrong with him this time?” (more…)

Yeah. I know. It’s Gowan and not DeYoung but I think Gowan is a better keyboard player that DeYoung. I’m trying to learn the intro on piano. It uses sumpin’ called an Alberti bass. Mozart was fond of that as he used it at the very beginning of his Sonata in C Major.

The funny looking bass player with the glasses and short hair is their original bass player whom they had playing with them on a few songs in this concert.

Heroes

It’s amazing how far down the tubes this country has descended in the last seventy years. Don Surber has an excellent post about a real hero. Compare this to what our society now thinks is a hero. “Caitlyn” Jenner. We are now officially lower than whale shit. Daniel Patrick Moynihan stated it best when he said that we continued to define deviancy downward. Someone is now a hero because he decided to cut off his dick? JHFC! WTF is wrong with this country? Why is this a national story? This should be a private matter. Instead it’s a national story and ESPN is giving Jenner an award for courage.

Take some time to reflect on all of the real heroes who stormed the beaches of Normandy seventy-one years ago today. WWII was the last war we won just as it was the last war we wanted to win. It was also the last war that Hollywood was on our side. So was the media. We didn’t worry about civilian casualties. All the Germans and all of the Japanese were our enemies. War is hell. The purpose of war is to kill so many of the enemy that they either lose the will to fight or there aren’t anymore of them to kill. Until we understand that we will never win another war and we don’t deserve to. We have become a nation of pussies.

Saturday Guitar

AS most of you know, I love to post Bach compositions either written for or transcribed for guitar. Of course, I also like to find compositions by other composers that have been transcribed for guitar. Here is one such piece sent to me by Claudia. She is currently relearning this piece on piano but found this guitar version to send to me.

This group was formed in Athens Georgia.

Naturally, I had to go find out how this sounded on the piano.
