Saturday Guitar

AS most of you know, I love to post Bach compositions either written for or transcribed for guitar. Of course, I also like to find compositions by other composers that have been transcribed for guitar. Here is one such piece sent to me by Claudia. She is currently relearning this piece on piano but found this guitar version to send to me.

This group was formed in Athens Georgia.

Naturally, I had to go find out how this sounded on the piano.

  1. I was surprised to hear Tristesse of Chopin transcribed for guitar. That’s why I shared it with you, Denny. I think the group is playing it beautifully. Since then, I discovered a few more Chopin’s pieces re-arranged for guitar, and very well done. I’m sure that Chopin would be pleased.

I’m a bit overwhelmed by Mr. Kissin’s flamboyance. I never expect to reach that level, of course. But it’s a beautiful piece to learn and to practice.

    • I just started to try to learn a song by the rock group Styx, Come Sail Away. I learned a guitar version in about thirty minutes but I want to learn the keyboard intro. It involves an Alberti bass, which I had never heard of but now that I’ve heard it I realize that Mozart used it in his piano Sonata in C Major and I’m sure in other compositions. This song will be my Sunday Metal.

      • Thank you so much for sending me to your Metal choice. As you know, I’m not a connoisseur of this music genre, and I don’t always listen to it. I would have missed a great post.
