Now I know there are gonna be a lot of WTFs over this. Yeah. I know Shania Twain is definitely not metal but the intro to this song from the finale of her Vegas show kicks ass! If you only heard the first two minutes and forty-five seconds of this there is no way you would think this would turn out to be a C&W song. Of course, she became a cross over artist after she met Mutt Lange and he produced her album Come on Over. Lange produced two AC/DC albums. He also produced five Def Leppard albums and cowrote some of the songs. He did the same on Come on Over which catapulted Shania Twain into a major star. He infused a lot of rock elements into this album. He married her. Unfortunately, he got caught banging her best friend which ended that marriage.
I caught this show on AXS. It was really good. She worked her butt off. Her Vegas gig was the first time she had performed live in ten years. The blonde backup singer is her little sister. Shania looks really good for 48. MILF. Whoever colored her hair should be fired. She looks so much better with her natural hair color.
Agreed on all counts.
The intro had a very “Pink Floyd” feel, no?
Fabulous intro.
I’ve got big audio on my pc and not only did that intro just ooze everything you described the whole thing was big time entertaining. This 48 year old White girl really shows how it’s done.
man you’d have to be one cocky sob to cheat on a girl like that, no?
You mean one that marries the husband of the broad that Mutt Lange porked withing six months of Shania divorcing Mutt?
Nah, sumpin just ain’t right with that squaw.
Had to be a revenge marriage. And I saw a picture of Twain’s former best friend. Compared to Twain she’s a real skank. Maybe she’s good in the sack.
They could have gotten rid of the 50,000 others on the stage. I’ve never understood the crowd thing, when you’re just there to see the star. Waste of money, she has star power on her own, just my opinion. I find it distracting. But who knows what float you guys boats.
They didn’t need the dancers (this is Vegas, what do you expect?), but all of the musicians were essential. She’s going on a farewell tour this year and I’ll be willing to bet that she will take that many musicians with her but will not have any dancers. She needs that many musicians to match her studio productions. As far as it being a “farewell” tour? I’ve heard people say that before and not mean it, but she was essentially retired for ten years living in Switzerland, so she was able to walk away once before. She prolly made a pile of money doing Vegas and the farewell tour will rake in a bundle of cash as well. Maybe she will sit back and enjoy retirement with her son.
I never thought she was that great of a singer, not much range, but definitely uses what she’s got to the max. And she’s HOT.
Got to have those dancers or ToeJam wouldn’t watch it. 😉
I’m surprised she hasn’t been sued by sue-happy Roger Waters for that rip off of “One of these days”
It does sound sumpin’ like it, but Gilmore doesn’t play guitar as fast as these guys do.
I know nothing about Metal. But I watch your posts now, Denny. And I always learn something. First time I hear Shania. Like Konnie, I feel that the stage was overpopulated. But the star was certainly electrifying. I don’t know why she reminds me of Sarah Palin’s looks and stamina. I often wished that Sara had been in entertainment instead of politics. She certainly reached people easily and kept the crowds interested and clapping. I wonder if she can sing…..
And Shania Twain is a Canadian. Some of my metal posts aren’t actually metal, but the intro to that song sounds like a metal band. In that show she wore six different costumes which required five different costume changes. At the start of the show, she descended from above on a motorcycle. Twice during the show she came on stage on a horse. She is a real high energy performer. I’m sure she will release a video of a show on her current tour which started in Canada. She always has a smile on her face while performing so she must be enjoying what she does. If she doesn’t she sure knows how to fake it. To top it off, she writes all of the songs she sings. I’m not much of a country western fan, but I’ve liked her from the start of her career. So do a lot of other people since she’s sold more albums that any other female performer. After Mutt Lange started producing her albums, she became a crossover artist with more of a rock feel to her albums which got her fans from outside of country and western music.
Think you can get her on “Saturday Boobage”? I’ve always wanted to see that body but I think she’s a little more conservative than most entertainers.
Took the Ol’ Lady to see her in Vancouver years ago….Got decent seats(I thought s , apparently I was wrong 🙂 ) and at part way into her performance she walked into the lower seating to talk to this guy who was about 4 rows in on the floor. With a pair of binoculars……and this was all broadcast and on the big screens at the centre as it appears the guy admitted to catching her last show there and bringing the binocs to make sure he had a “good ” look at her…..
Evidently the intro is called Red Storm. I tried to see who was in her band for that show, but couldn’t find anything. They were effing killing it. And I would hit Shania like a suicide bomber….Good God. Yum!
If you find the show on cable the credits show who is in the band and what instruments they play. One of the guitar players plays multiple instruments, among them fiddle and mandolin. I think he also played the accordion on one of her songs and he might have been the banjo player on another. He also sings some backup vocals. He’s the dude with the headset microphone. It looks like he shares lead guitar with the long haired guy who did the guitar solo in Feel Like A Woman. It looks like those two guys shared lead in Red Storm. I saw one of her specials over ten years ago that was filmed at a concert in Dallas, and she had a large band backing her up, like she always has. She wants to create the same production as she does in the studio and succeeds. She always surrounds herself with good musicians.
I found the kid with the longer hair, Josh Gooch, they had listed as lead. 24 years-old. Jesus, I’d say the kid has a promising future ahead. It’s fucking awesome to watch somebody who is fantastic at their craft; I bet I watched that clip 5 times. That band is amazing.
And I know this is gonna sound stupid, but I was watching a show and they were talking to Paul Stanley. Guy asks him about Ace Frehley, and Paul says he was amazing, but that he just stopped practicing. I swear to God it didn’t dawn on me that they had to keep practicing, and that’s the dumbass in me because I was completely stunned by that simple statement, because I just assumed they basically woke up being rock gods and could run off and play songs as needed.
How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice. Practice. Practice. World class players play every day. If they are not performing, they are practicing. It’s just like muscles. If you don’t use them, you’ll lose them.
They had two guys playing lead on the intro. The blonde dude with the long hair did the first lead riff (and the solo in Feel Like a Woman), and then the guy with the short hair and the headset microphone did the final one. During the show he also played mandolin, banjo, and fiddle besides the guitar and singing backup vocals. Shania Twain always surrounds herself with good musicians in her live performances. And didja notice that when she came back out on stage for another bow, she motioned for everyone to come forward with her and take another bow with her? Other commenters said that there were too many people on stage with her. Other than the dancers, I disagree. As an amateur musician myself, I like to see the backing band, especially when it’s as good as this one.
