As an aside, they tried to revive the comic strip Pogo after Kelly’s death and it failed. On the other hand, they revived the comic strip Nancy and it succeeded. WTF? Just another symptom of what is wrong with America. Nancy is one of the dumbest comic strips evah!

They get their best digs in by putting words in the mouths of those whom they wish to ridicule.
Never really read Pogo (long gone by the time I could read) and I just looked it up on wiki. Umm, never gonna get printed in ANY newspaper again. They would be getting lawsuits from every direction with the way they talk. It doesn’t even matter if that was the way they talked in the deep south. A certain demographic would take offense.
Nancy, on the other hand, is a middle-of-the-road-white-bread-no-controversy-here comic strip. In other words, safe and boring. Or it was last I read it some 20 years ago, before the local paper dropped it from the Sunday comics page.
Again my thoughts go straight to the mind numbed voters.

It seems odd, but an individual forced to think things through will usually make the right decision. Make them part of a group either by social media or actual contact and it seems that entire gang devolves to the lowest possible posistion on anything. Got to be a reason there but I don’t see it.

I actually, childish fool that I was, voted for Pogo instead of for Bush Sr. in my first time voting for President. Then again, Bush didn’t need my vote because it was against Dukakis, so all ended reasonably well.
We need a comic strip like Pogo, that told the truth like Pogo. Scathing satire like that just doesn’t exist anymore. Someone would get their feelings hurt. My father has the comic books and I read them constantly as a child.
Doonesberry used to be funny but now it’s just liberal tripe.
Bring back the old days of Pogo and Li’l Abner.
