Do you wanna know why Trump is surging in the polls? The American people are getting sick and tired of our politicians promising one thing and doing another, especially Republicans. We expect it from Dimocrats. Americans want the border secured. Dimocrats don’t want to do it because these are future Dimocrat voters. Republicans don’t want to do it because Mexicans are cheap labor. One thing perplexes me. Why are unions against closing the border? Don’t they realize that cheap labor depresses their wages? Are they that stupid? The answer is yes. I guess they figger if they can get the minimum wage raised to $15 an hour that will keep their wages artificially high as well. Nope! What that will do is cause even more automation and more jobs moved offshore. Robots are cheap. They don’t get sick. They don’t go on strike. Already fast food workers are being replaced by computer terminals. Of course Dimocrats love it when unemployment goes up. That’s even more people to vote for them.
What can’t go on forever, won’t go on forever. Eventually, you run out of other peoples’ money. Eventually, in a sane world, the adults will have to be put in charge. Unfortunately, That leaves out the Dimocrats and at least half of the Republicans. Unfortunately, we no longer live in a sane world. In a sane world BJ and Cankles would both be in prison where they belong. In a sane world, an unqualified empty suit would not have been elected as president not once but twice. In a sane world, the Republicans could have found better candidates than Johhny Maverick McRINO and Mittens, the only Republican who couldn’t run against Obummercare.. The only things leftists understand is violence (why do you think they kowtow to the Muslims so much), and they run from it as fast as they can. That’s why we on the right are going to have to get much more aggressive and combative in staking our claims. I don’t know that I’d advocate military service as a requirement for POTUS, but I’d sure wonder about anybody who’d take it upon themselves to assume the Office and its attendant responsibility for sending our armed forces into harm’s way unless that person had been willing to first serve in uniform. Seems to me any such man or woman would be lacking in the moral stature needed when it comes to understanding just what it is you’d be asking others to do.

Funny, but the last two rants you went on Denny pretty much sums up everything I have been feeling in the last 5 years and then some. My distillation of my years of observation is that socialists/progressives operate in a World based on theory; and conservatives live in a World based upon practicality. Thus, conservatives live in the real World, and socialists wish not to.

I believe that the Unions are only interested in union dues. Those are paid at a steady rate regardless of how high your pay rate is.
I get paid $15.56 an hour and most of the postal “regulars”, I.E. what the post office calls “real employees” get paid $20 an hour on up. Newly converted people are making just over $18 an hour but we all pay the same rate for union dues.
Why should the union fight to keep out workers when they will be collecting the same amount from illegal employees as they do from legit ones?
Comin’ up on 31 years as a PTF and haven’t seen anything that’d make me want to pay dues to the union. Haven’t wanted to go to a big office where I’d make regular, either. I go to work, get it done, go home. Right now I”m averagin’ maybe 25 hours a week and that’s fine with me. Of course, thanks to the union, they want to bring in another worker to split up the hours between us. Why should I support an organization that would rather starve a pair of workers than let me make a decent living? APWU can FOAD.
