Didja hear the latest? Playboy magazine is planning to stop showing nude women. WTF? They will still have women, but they will no longer be nude. So I guess that means people really will buy it to read the articles. Currently, it has about 800,000 subscribers. I guess that’s too many and they want to cut it back to 400,000 or so.
One of Playboy’s selling points was the Playmate as the girl next door, the innocent woman that you wouldn’t expect to pose nude. Alas, they don’t have too many of them anymore. If the women have large boobs, they’re usually fake.
So no more nudes. Damn! I was gonna write Hef and ask him to offer a million bucks to Charlotte McKinney to pose nude. No hope of that now.
With all honesty, I never bought a Playboy magazine in my life. Probably saw well over half of ’em from the 50s through the 70s, ’cause one was always lyin around somewhere in a dorm room or in the berthing compartment aboard ship.
Loved the one-panel cartoons, especially Gahan Wilson, as well as that joke intro in the first part of the mag . . . think it was called “Playboy After Hours” or something like that.
Rarely read the articles unless someone recommended one to me as particularly insightful or funny. Began to notice during the late 60s and early 70s that all the centerfolds were highly airbrushed to highlight highlights and minimize flaws.
Don’t think I’ve had a copy of the mag in my hands at any time in the past 30 years or so.
Same here. Roughly my experience as well. Read both my father’s copies as well as his friends. Stopped altogether around the mid 70’s. Lost all interest. Worth noticing the site is the money maker now.
Well, at his age Hef can’t get it up even with yuge doses of viagra so why the need for naked women at all.
Also, his daughter runs the show and it has been going down ever since she took over.

I cleaned out a storage locker of a friend who died a few years ago. One of the things in there was a stack of Playboys from the mid to late 60’s. I wanted them bad, but his sister took them all – thought they might be worth money, but I doubt it.
I wanted to actually read the articles – and interviews. MLK, Bobby Kennedy, Ali, a whole bunch of fascinating stuff from a very turbulent time.
The whole thing sounds like a publicity stunt. Just my two shekels-worth.

Every day of the week there’s the fundamental transformation of America in our face. Hugh Hefner deciding to eliminate nudes from Playboy Magazine is proof positive that Alzheimers is a disease which is now pandemic among aged men.
My favorite Playmate was Marya Carter from back in the 1960`s, she made me ignore the cartoons & literary offerings.
