So a few weeks ago I saw that the 40th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Show was on BBC America. I had seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show back in the 70’s before it had become a midnight movie cult classic and I wondered if it was the stage adaption of the movie or vice versa. Turns out the stage version was first and then came the movie. Here is Time Warp from the movie. Riff Raff is portrayed by Richard O’Brien who wrote the show.
It was fun watching the stage show as the audience participated. Unfortunately, the audience participation was far better in the first act than then the second act. If you get a chance to see the movie at a midnight showing, do so, as the audience dresses up and takes an active part like throwing rice at the wedding. This is prolly Susan Sarandon’s best role: a clueless bimbo. She didn’t even have to act.
And crawling on the planet’s face, some insects called the human race. Lost in time, and lost in space…
Great Flik
I’ve got no use for Susan Sarandon and her liberal big mouth. And she’s butt ugly to boot.
See my update. I was not complimenting Sarandon. “clueless bimbo. And she didn’t even have to act.”
I agree with your assessment. Typical Hollywood liberal, just like her now ex-husband Tim Robbins. I have no use for either of them.
Denny ….Don`t be so hard on Susan Sarandon, yes it is true she did not have to act but for dysfunctional liberals reality is a very difficult medium to accept & few can even fake it.
As for Tim Robbins, my only regret is he did not get stuck in the shit tube while escaping from Shawshank prison.
I’ve never seen Shawshank Redemption, just excerpts, mainly because Tim Robbins was in it. If a movie has Jane Fonda, Sarandon, or Robbins I refuse to watch it. I really loved what the South Park dudes did to him, Susan Sarandon, and a lot of other Hollywood libs in Team America. FAG – the actors’ organization.
I couldn’t agree more, Jill. Then again, when I got suckered into a midnight show in the 80’s, I walked out when all the Dick-with-Tits propaganda directly followed Denny’s clip: https://youtu.be/AR6wKRWFOoE
Piss on a bunch of that bullshit.
The midnight shows are when the flick is watchable because of the audience interaction.
Audience interaction with faggotry? Um, no, I don’t fuckin’ think so.
I and a girl friend saw this movie in 1975. I learned to love Meatloaf’s music from it. The movie was OK.
It’s a Halloween tradition at our house to trot out Rocky Horror and watch it.
The movie itself is silly but fun. The audience participation is what makes it though. We try to go every Halloween to a midnight showing, if for no better reason than the opportunity for screaming “SLUT” at the screen every time Sarandon comes on or opens her mouth. It’s even better if you can find one with a floor show to go along with it. The weirdness on screen is usually matched by what’s happening in the venue as well.
