Thank a vet. They have been willing to sacrifice their all for the good of the country, unlike a lot of spineless cowards I could name.
Back in 1992 I was in London on Election Day. I woke up to find that BJ Clintoon had become president. I cried. The country elected a spineless cowardly draft dodger who hated the military. That’s when I knew this country was on its way downhill. To think that a draft dodger could become president was unthinkable to me. Then, sixteen years later, we elected another spineless coward who not only despised the military, but despised America as well. He’s a rat bastard commie who is prolly also a Mooslime. Disgusting!
There are many times that I think that maybe we should have adopted a policy like in Heinlein’s Starship Troopers. To become a citizen and be able to vote and hold public office, one had to serve in the military. Just think. No BJ. No Thunder Rodent Thighs. Ya notice the LSM propaganda arm of the Dimocrat Party has its panties in a wad about Carson’s story about West Point but has nothing to say about Cankles’ story that she once tried to join the Marines? If it weren’t for double standards, liberals wouldn’t have any standards at all.
But I digress.
No Jug Hussein Ears Downgrade. No ex-Speaker Blinky. No Babs Boxer. No Diane Feinstein. No Maxine Waters. The list goes on and on. It’s a wonderful dream to have on Veterans Day.
I wish I knew how to post a picture here. Obama is “OUT” magazine’s cover boy of the year. It says “ALLY HERO ICON”
not lying.
that would be ratbastid commies, to clean it up a bit.
Thanks for your service, Denny.
Thinking of buying an M1 or M14 just for the feelgood.
The M1 is a grand old weapon–when I was on the landing party on the USS Galveston (mumble) years ago–rifleman, second squad, second platoon) my carry weapon was an M1. The only “action” I saw was firearms practice on the fantail when we would try desperately to blow holes in the bottom of the South China Sea (I am proud to say I was a crack shot–every time I shot at the South China Sea, I hit it!) and I NEVER experienced a FTE, FTF, or any other malfunction. If necessary, I would have trusted my life to that rifle. Today, however, if I had the funds I would get a Springfield Armory SOCOM.
And we can still buy M1 Garands or carbines through cmp.org!! They don’t have so many now. Stores at Camp Perry, OH and Annison, AL. They have some on auction with current bids going over 4 grand.
My late Father in Law was a retired Marine and I bought a M1 Garand at a small gun shop in Long Beach Ca. for his 70th birthday in 1992. I paid $350.00 for it back then.
I got it after he died and I learned to love it, although, I can’t imagine what it was like to pack a heavy rifle like it around for months at a time. And, pack a lot of ammo too. I found an original 16 inch bayonet & scabbard on Ebay which I bought for $330.00 I think.
It’s a International Harvester made rifle. It is in great shape and fires flawlessly. The long bayonet makes it a helluva close range weapon as well.
The bayonet has a O L stamp which I think stands for Oneida the long gone knife makers.
When I went through Basic we were issued the M14 and the lifers told us not to complain about how heavy it was ’cause they’d used the Garand, and it was a lot heavier. Now I can check that out with a couple of mouse clicks http://www.m1garand.com/m14-m1a/
http://www.m1garand.com/m1-garand/ and find out that there wasn’t much difference. We got to Infantry training and they gave us used M16’s and those seemed like Mattel toys. Found out when we got overseas that there were still Marine units that were sloggin’ around in the mud and jungle with them old M14 boat anchors.
Back to the subject of Denny’s post. Thanks to all the vets out there, even the jarheads and squids and ‘pellerheads, and can’t for get the Coasties.
The downside of the M1 was “M1 thumb”.
When I had to stand deck watch (Not too often as ETs didn’t do that. Not sure why I was doing it at that particular time.) looking out for swimmers on the Iredell County when we were beached in Viet Nam, I carried an M1. Due to our stupid ROE, if we thought we saw a swimmer (who would be planting a mine) we had to get permission from the Officer of the Deck to fire. BS! I thought I saw a swimmer once and shot the hell out of sumpin’ floating in the water. Not sure what it was. It wasn’t a swimmer and I missed every time anyway. Got in a little trouble but nothing serious. I always thought it was better to ask forgiveness than permission.
Thank you for your service, Denny.
I sent this out with my VETERAN’S DAY tribute earlier today along with a few images which, like Jill’s comment above, I’m not able to include:
About my spelling it, “Veteran’s Day”; I disagree with the “Official” explanation from the VA, as I do with most everything else they do.
From: http://www.va.gov/opa/vetsday/vetday_faq.asp
Q. Which is the correct spelling of Veterans Day?
a. Veterans Day
b. Veteran’s Day
c. Veterans’ Day
A. Veterans Day (choice a, above). Veterans Day does not include an apostrophe but does include an “s” at the end of “veterans” because it is not a day that “belongs” to veterans, it is a day for honoring all veterans.
Their explanation don’t hold water with me at all. I believe the day is both – A day that “belongs” to EVERY veteran – and – a day for honoring ALL veterans.
My opinion! My usage and spelling will continue to show my respect to all who served honorably.
I propose a toast to all who have served – and most especially those who gave all.
Merle
Liberalism is a mental disorder that is destroying the county I love and served. The current White House resident, who was created in the Outhouse basement, is doing his best to destroy it from within and is making strides in his quest. Another Civil War is approaching and Patriots need to be ready. The country’s existence depends on those willing to oppose Tyranny. And just for kickers……

Dune coons. Dune coons everywhere! It’s a shame about Hamtramck, but, that city began its downward spiral decades ago when the blacks from Detoilet moved in and the Polls began moving west out to the suburbs, mainly to Utica.
Today, Hamtramck is a moonslime shithole with a large Albanian population, you know, the dregs who Putin doesn’t want. Ya, just goddamn amazes me I have more respect for Vlad, than I do for our elected elite. Then again, it took me a long time to recognize the difference between the Russian people and what was the Soviet Union, which is a dead concept today.
Happy Veterans Day and a big THANK YOU to all who have served. Regardless of the current state of our country and its government — may our vets always be remembered and honored for their role in protecting our freedoms, and for the example they provide for the rest of us.
On a side note whenever there’s a holiday like this one just for education purposes swing over and check on GOOGLE and how they commemorate them with 2 words and 1 finger. It was Easter Sunday 3 years ago I believe when instead of recognizing Easter they chose to commemorate the birthday of Ceasar Chavez a genuine rat bastard commie union leader. I’ve checked google on like Presidents Day, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Columbus Day etc. and nothing, but Arbor Day Earth Day MLK Day those get highlighted and celebrated. People still may be unaware as to just how anti-American, anti-Christian and how radically agenda driven Liberal GOOGLE truly is.
Very good point about Google and its overt anti-American and anti-religion beliefs. That, plus their policy of collecting and storing data on your every search, is the reason that I no longer use Google. I have almost as little confidence in Bing also. My search engine of choice is DuckDuckGo (“The search engine that doesn’t track you”).
Denny, not to be too nit-picking…in Heinlein’s Starship Troopers, to be a voter you had to volunteer for service & complete service. Not necessarily the military – you could be a human test subject for drug testing if that was all you were qualified for. But if you volunteered, you couldn’t be turned down. AND, you couldn’t vote until AFTER you served. Couldn’t be a politician, police, etc. unless you had served. R.A.H. was interviewed about it & his point was if you weren’t willing to put your life on the line for the greater good of the society you lived in, you didn’t deserve a say in how that society was run. I firmly agree, and raised my kids the same way. I am proud of their service, and grateful for being able to serve myself.
I stand corrected. Thanks.
