I can’t recall how many times I have read in the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation that the last month was the “hottest month on record” or the last year was “the hottest year on record”. The source for all of that blather? The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. NOAA. The gummint organization that claims the seas will rise three feet in the next one hundred years. It turns out that they have been fibbing.
Another week, another study showing that our official climate data gatekeepers have been exaggerating the extent of “global warming” to make it look more scary, more urgent, more desperately in need of extra funding for our official climate data gatekeepers…
This one, co-authored by meteorologist Anthony Watts (of Watts Up With That? fame) shows that at least half of the “global warming” in the US since 1979 has been fabricated by NOAA.
I’m shocked!
While satellite records have shown no global warming for at least 18 years, the land based data sets like the ones maintained by NOAA for the US Historical Climate Network (USHCN) continue to show a warming trend.
How can that be?
One reason for this discrepancy, the study suggests, is that NOAA has been cherry-picking its raw data. That is, it has ignored the evidence from those weather stations showing little or no late Twentieth century warming and instead placed undue emphasis on the ones that do show warming.
Holy crap! Has anyone told those “97.5% of climate scientists” (from the since debunked study) who believe in AGW?
But the ones that do show warming also happen to be the least trustworthy. These are the ones, the study shows, which have been most corrupted by the Urban Heat Island effect – and other environmental factors.
Some, for example, have been surrounded by buildings or had roads built next to them since they were first sited. Others have had airports vastly expand next door to them. What this inevitably means is that their more recent temperature measurements have been running hot – i.e., they have been distorted by factors which have nothing to do with weather or climate.
Yet, bizarrely, these are the ones that NOAA has been using as the basis for its claims about “global warming” in the US.
If, however, you look at those weather stations that haven’t been corrupted – “unperturbed” stations – what you get is US global warming roughly half as much as NOAA claims.
It’s almost as if there were some kind of plot going on.
There is more in the linked article. So, when you read next month that we have just experienced the hottest December on record you can rest assured that if the source is NOAA, it is bullshit. There has been no appreciable warming for the last eighteen years. AGW is junk science. Crippling our economy, like Obungler and the Dimocrats want to do, to try and stop mythical AGW is ridiculous. Giving money to poor countries because of mythical AGW is ridiculous. Hopefully, when Obongo leaves office in 2017, we can put this to rest and come to our senses, unless, of course, we elect Thunder Rodent Thighs or an establishment Republican who believes in AGW.
There is no ideal temperature of Earth. The only constant is that temperatures (ahem, climate) change.
If people near the coast are worried about rising sea levels, they should be thankful for the thousands of years when beaches were extended by shrinking seas and now make plans to move to safer grounds inland.
To encourage such mitigation steps, Obama should demand a global warming tax on people building and living near the shore to discourage more building there and to fund eventual relocations, starting with California.

Global warming / Climate change will go down in history as the biggest hoax ever rammed down the throat of mankind. The bottom line of it is simple.

I always got a kick out of that group of bought and paid for British global warming “scientists” a few years back when they got together to proclaim “drinking water does nothing to ward off dehydration” Why would scientists make such an idiotic statement? Mr. Watts has been on this shit for years. He’s done weather off and on for many years at a TV station just over the hill from where I live and has been known to write letters to the editor that point out the fallacies in the Globull Warmening fantasies of the Libs at the nearby University and their mindless minions.
It amazes me how the media are so willing to just accept this bullshit. I guess it’ll take something like the Rather/Mapes fiasco to get some reporter to do a little real diggin’ and awaken the rest of ’em to point out that the Emperor’s new clothes just don’t exist.

Actually that is only for icebergs. If glaciers melt and fall into the sea it will add water to the system so glaciers falling into the sea will raise water level. Fill a glass with water and then add ice cubes and the water will rise. He is using a closed system in this experiment.
Not only does NOAA cherry pick reporting stations, they consistently apply a correction to those stations – I’ve yet to see a correct (especially for a heat-island located station) that was corrected *downward*. So not only do they pick the hottest reporting stations, they then “correct” the data up from there.
