Earlier this year, Don Surber emailed me a draft copy of Trump the Press for comments and any grammar or spelling corrections. Then, he emailed me a copy of the galleys. I apologized for not writing a book review with the excuse that I write crappy book reviews. His response? Write a four word review: I liked the book. Hmmmmm. Terse and to the point. Just like his writing. Just like his book. So now I’m shamed into writing a crappy review.

The title is a play on words. Trump did indeed trump the press as he played them like a Stradivarius or like a Stratocaster for rock fans.

In Trump the Press, Don Surber points out in great detail just how ignorant and stupid today’s press is. After all, journalists aren’t really very smart. Many of them just read stuff off TelePrompTers that have been written by other people. They make fun of bloggers who sit around in their pajamas (I don’t wear pajamas. I blog in my underwear which is what I’m doing now.) and don’t have the layers and layers of fact checkers that real journalists do. Ya mean like the “journalists” at a San Francisco TV station who reported the names of the air crew in a Chinese airline crash as “Sum Ting Wong, Wi Tu Lo, Ho Lee Fuk, And Bam Ding Ow”? Some clueless news reader actually read that off the TelePrompTer after it had gone through the layers and layers of fact checkers at the TV station.

Since most of today’s press is basically the propaganda arm of the Dimocrat Party or as Glenn Reynolds sez, “Democrat operatives with bylines”, they possess a group think marching in lockstep to whatever the leaders of the Dimocrat Party tell them to write. They are court stenographers. They live in their little enclaves in Washington DC and New York. None of them care about what the rubes out in flyover land think. What do we hicks know anyway? They are our betters.

Turns out that isn’t true. Don pwns them in great detail with their own quotes to damn them. They thought Trump wasn’t serious. He wasn’t really gonna run. They were all wrong. OK. He’s running but he’s not going anywhere. Wrong! He has an entire chapter on peak Trump and the dates it would happen. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Everything they wrote was wrong. How delicious. It’s so much fun laughing at these idiots. Don names names so you can laugh at each and every one.

And he doesn’t just go after the rat bastard commies in the propaganda arm of the Dimocrat Party. He goes after “conservative” pundits as well. He devotes an entire chapter to George Will, the little crybaby who announced a few weeks ago that he’s taking his baseball and going home and leaving the Republican Party because Donald Trump isn’t a conservative.

Yannow, I’ve heard that a lot. Let’s look at some of the “conservatives”. We had Bush 41 who squandered Reagan’s conservative legacy and his own sky high approval ratings and lost to the Hick from Hope because he took the “high ground” and wouldn’t fight. And he looked at his watch in a debate in Virginia.

We had his “conservative” son who gave us “compassionate conservatism” which included a bloated farm bill, a bloated transportation bill, DHS, TSA, and a new entitlement, Medicare Part D. His out of control “compassionate conservative” spending allowed Dimocrats to run as fiscal conservatives. Can you imagine that? Dimocrats as fiscal conservatives?

The spendthrift “conservative” Republicans lost Congress in the 2006 elections and then lost the presidency in 2008 by running another “conservative” Johnny Maverick McRINO whose campaign was based on running as a Dimocrat, stabbing Republicans in the back, and allowing his staffers to destroy his running mate. He also “took the high road” and wouldn’t fight Obungler for fear of being called a racist.

Then we had “conservative” Mittens Romneycare who was the only Republican who couldn’t run against Obummercare since it was based on Romneycare the health plan he gave Taxachusetts. Like McRINO, he wouldn’t fight either. He won the first debate and then threw the election by letting Candy Crowley roll him in one of the following debates. I don’t think we need any more “conservatives” like that. It’s telling that McRINO, Mittens, Bush 41, Bush 43, and sore loser Jeb! are staying home from the convention.

One thing you can say about Trump is that he fights back. He doesn’t take any crap from the press. How long have we waited for a candidate like that. Don gives examples of him fighting the press. Every time he did his numbers were supposed to go down. They went up.

If you hate the press as much as I do, you will like this book. May I conclude this crappy book review with Don’s suggested four words: I liked the book.
