For decades the press has held itself immune to that most basic of natural laws – ‘actions have consequences’. Even Republicans and most conservatives played along, claiming it was necessary protect the (illusion) of the sanctity of the free press.
The Donald long ago recognized most of the press for what it is – a bunch of politicized shills and hacks out for an angle and a good story line – and he’s leveraged that to his great advantage as a real estate development mogul and reality show star. It’s clear he’s taking this well honed skillset into the White House and is calling out those reporters and writers that are hiding behind their press credentials and journalist ‘bonafides’. “You trash me personally or unfairly skew the story and guess what – your White House press credentials are pulled until further notice. Have a nice day.”
