Big Kottke fan here. Don’t remember if I mentioned this before, but at one of his shows he stopped mid-song and scolded himself because he “used the wrong technique.” He said that he should have barred instead of using his thumb, which according to his classically trained colleagues is a no-no.
Of course, he went on to use his thumb throughout the rest of the show.
Love it. As always (when I know the tune) it sent me back to the piano. And I learned two more with the medley. Fun time. Thank you!
