The Blizzard of Oz band is surely Ozzy’s 2nd best band ever (behind the mighty Black Sabbath, of course). This clip captures Ozzy in all his post Sabbath power, before he became a walking vegetable. Randy Rhodes was one of the greats and this is a real treat, since precious little performance footage of him exists.
Great! Really cool to see them play live at that TV venue on a small stage like a high school auditorium — no lip-synching, air guitar, or pyrotechnics, just straight rock ‘n roll. I much prefer Randy’s style of play to the generation of shredders that followed him. He squeezed a lot of contemporary Van Halen-style idioms out of that Les Paul without using effects pedals and whammy bar cheats; that was all done with his hands.
