WTF Happened To Beautiful Dunwoody?
The Dimocrats were unable to buy the seat in Georgia’s 6th congressional district much to the dismay of the Atlanta Urinal and Constitution and the Georgia Dimocrat Party who keep hoping that Georgia is about to turn blue. They threw over $8 million into the race trying to get Jon Ossoff elected. One of my readers said his name should be Jack. Go ahead, say, “Jack Ossoff” real fast. Turns out Ossoff doesn’t even live in the 6th, but that’s not illegal, but, since he doesn’t, he was unable to vote for himself. His excuse is he lives with his girlfriend of twelve years near Emory University where she is attending medical school. Twelve years? Not married yet? Commitment problems?
Ossoff got 48% of the vote, which is pretty good for a district that Tom Price won by double digits, but the Dimocrats did pull out all the stops. What surprised me was he ran really strong in Beautiful Dunwoody. WTF? When did Beautiful Dunwoody turn Dimocrat? When I moved here in 1999, this area was strong Republican. At that time Beautiful Dunwoody was in Cynthia McCommie’s district and I remember her getting booed when she rode in a convertible for our 4th of July parade. We always voted for the Republican who ran against her. I remember when Denise Majette ran against her in the Dimocrat Primary a whole bunch of us voted in the Dimocrat primary for Majette. I remarked at the polling station when I saw all of the people voting Dimocrat that I didn’t realize there were that many Dimocrats in Beautiful Dunwoody. The lady next to me said, “From your lips to God’s ears.”. McCommie blamed her loss on all of the Republicans voting in the Dimocrat primary, but it was the middle class blacks in Stone Mountain who did her in.
Beautiful Dunwoody has been growing by leaps and bounds since I moved here. The houses being built now start at $700K. I wouldn’t expect them to be Dimocrats but maybe they are. They have put in a whole bunch of apartment buildings on the west side of town. Those are prolly Dimocrats.
Still, driving down the main street through Beautiful Dunwoody, Mount Vernon Highway, I saw far more signs for the Republican candidates than I did for Ossoff. Sad to see this city turn blue. I should have suspected sumpin’ when they started putting in all of the bike lanes.
Ossoff and the Dimocrats are claiming that this is a win. Huh? He didn’t win the election and got less than 50% of the vote and this is a win. Now, he gets to face off with a Republican who should be able to defeat him in June. Look for the Dimocrats to throw even more money at this race. We’ll also have to put up with more campaign ads and robocalls between now and the election. Arrrrggggghhhhh!
