Here’s some real heavy metal from Judas Priest. It doesn’t get more heavy metal than the Priest. Check out the double bass drum during the entire song. See at how the end Tipton points to the drummer? He knows the dude had a workout. Also one of the rare songs where Downing gets to do a guitar solo. Tipton plays lead through most of the song except for the lead up to Downing’s solo and then Downing’s solo itself. Awesome performance. I’ve got this DVD.
YES!! I’m one of the oddball girls who just adores Judas Priest. Saw them in concert and they never disappoint!
Twin lead guitars. It’s what made Priest, Maiden, Wishbone Ash, The Butterfield Blues Band (Early on, at least until after East/West), and Thin Lizzy so great. I don’t know of any younger bands today that are doing it. It’s a damn shame because it makes such an awesome sound when done properly. UFO definitely had a twin lead guitar sound on record, but I don’t think it was truly two guitarists playing simultaneously. Just Michael Schenker multi-tracking himself. Either way, that sound kicks ass.
