No, if Clinton had been a Republican with all of his crimes, he would have been hounded out of office and the Republican senators would have been right there with the Dimocrats in hounding him out of office just like they did with Nixon. What compounds the problem is that in a group of millions you can always find an outlier or two with which to condemn the whole group.
So the Dems accuse Trump and members of his administration of colluding with the Russians. It can’t be proven that they weren’t and with a cooperative media they can keep the charges open for Trump’s entire presidency effectively hamstringing his programs.
Also, this is why conspiracy theories never die. You can’t prove that the conspiracy didn’t take place. A true conspiracy goes undetected unless and until a participant in the conspiracy talks. And the more people needed to carry out the conspiracy the more likely someone will talk.
