Detroit — Half of the eight mayoral hopefuls on Detroit’s primary ballot next week have been convicted of felony crimes involving drugs, assault or weapons, a Detroit News analysis shows.
Three were charged with gun crimes and two for assault with intent to commit murder. Some of the offenses date back decades, the earliest to 1977. The most recent was in 2008.
Why not? Perfect representatives of Detoilet.
Political consultant Greg Bowens said there are candidates with past hardships in every election cycle. It’s not something unique to Detroit or the political arena in general, he said.
Really? Name me one other city like that.
“Black marks on your record show you have lived a little and have overcome some challenges,” said Bowens, a former press secretary to Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer and NAACP activist. “They (candidates) deserve the opportunity to be heard, but they also deserve to have the kind of scrutiny that comes along with trying to get an important elected position.”
Oh. They must be black. OK. That’s OK then. Sorry.
Tuesday’s Detroit mayoral primary election is the first since the city exited bankruptcy in 2014. The field of eight will be narrowed to two who will face off in the fall.
Under state election law, convicted felons can vote and run for office as long as they are not incarcerated or guilty of certain fraud-related offenses, or crimes involving a breach of the public trust. The Detroit News reviewed the backgrounds of all the mayoral contenders.
While some refute circumstances that led to their criminal convictions, three said their past is a motivating factor in their decisions to run.
“I dindu nuffin”, said the three who refute the circumstances. These felons are all Dimocrats which is only natural since the Dimocrat Party is a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.

As for the state of Michigan, once a person gets out of the aforementioned “sewer of Michigan” – The people of Michigan are, for the most part, honest, hard working, regular Americans. Which is not to say that they are not in S.E. Michigan. They’re just a minority and I’m glad to live now where my political preference is a majority.

Entire city blocks of vacant eyesore buildings have been (and are being) cleared away.
That’s all due to a bunch of extremely rich white guys so racist they spend their money in Day-twah. So much for any sniveling from the tribal homelands outside the business district, where it is still more or less unsafe to go.
Hidden among the daily tales of horror are reminders that the afrogangsters haven’t won yet, though they’re workin’ on it.

Oh shit, I have not been this surprised since I found out George Michael
was a sausage smoker! I remember that back during the 80s, the city
of Washington D.C. was relaxing the qualifications for candidates for
the police department.
The problem was that the police department was “not diverse enough.”
They found out there there were very few black adult males in the city
without felony convictions on their records. What happened next, was
they started hiring recruits with felony convictions on their records. If I
do not have to spell this out, the results were predictable!
Rapes, robberies, drug use and sales, thefts and even rapes and at least
1 murder was committed by police officers. Who could have seen this
coming? The answer is anyone who understands the threat of 50 years
of progressivism!
It’s said that Kim Jong Un might be capable of nuking cities such as Seattle, LA, San Francisco, Denver, Detroit, Chicago or New York. That is all.

Glad my brother left that city about 5 or 6 years ago and said he would never return. He lived in a decent suburb and still hated the place and once described it as a “sewer”. No truer word were ever spoken. One day, the city will be completely abandoned and then with any luck become a lost city, which if we are lucky will stay lost.
