My friend Pres sent me this.
Ret. Marine Col. Jeffery Powers wrote to the NFL commissioners the following:
Commissioners,
I’ve been a season pass holder at Yankee Stadium, Yale Bowl and the Giants Stadium.
I missed the ’90-’91 season because I was with a battalion of Marines in Desert Storm. 14 of my wonderful Marines returned home with the American Flag draped across their lifeless bodies. My last conversation with one of them, Sgt. Garrett Mongrella, was about how our Giants were going to the Super Bowl. He never got to see it.
Many friends, Marines, and Special Forces Soldiers who worked with or for me through the years returned home with the American Flag draped over their coffins.
Now I watch multi-millionaire athletes who never did anything in their lives but play a game, disrespect what brave Americans fought and died for. They are essentially spitting in the faces and on the graves of real men, men who have actually done something for this country beside playing with a ball and believing they’re something special! They’re not! My Marines and Soldiers were!
You are complicit in this! You’ll fine players for large and small infractions but you lack the moral courage and respect for our nation and the fallen to put an immediate stop to this. Yes, I know, it’s their 1st Amendment right to behave in such a despicable manner.
What would happen if they came out and disrespected you or the refs publicly?
I observed a player getting a personal foul for twerking in the end zone after scoring. I guess that’s much worse than disrespecting the flag and our National Anthem. Hmmmmm, isn’t it his 1st Amendment right to express himself like an idiot in the end zone?
Why is taunting not allowed yet taunting America is OK? You fine players for wearing 9-11 commemorative shoes yet you allow scum on the sidelines to sit, kneel or pump their pathetic fist in the air. They are so deprived with their multi-million dollar contracts for playing a freaking game!
You condone it all by your refusal to act. You’re just as bad and disgusting as they are. I hope Americans boycott any sponsor who supports that rabble you call the NFL. I hope they turn off the TV when any team that allowed this disrespect to occur, without consequence, on the sidelines. I applaud those who have not.
Legends and heroes do NOT wear shoulder pads. They wear body armor and carry rifles. They make minimum wage and spend months and years away from their families. They don’t do it for an hour on Sunday. They do it 24/7 often with lead, not footballs, coming in their direction. They watch their brothers carted off in pieces not on a gurney to get their knee iced. They don’t even have ice! Many don’t have legs or arms.
Some wear blue and risk their lives daily on the streets of America. They wear fire helmets and go upstairs into the fire rather than down to safety. On 9-11, hundreds vanished. They are the heroes.
I hope that your high paid protesting pretty boys and you look in that mirror when you shave tomorrow and see what you really are, legends in your own minds. You need to hit the road and take those worms with you!
Time to change the channel.
Powers originally sent his letter to former Florida
congressman Allen West. West then posted the
letter to his news website.
As of last week, at least 18 NFL players had protested
the anthem by either kneeling during the anthem or
raising their fists, according to USA Today Sports.
I didn’t watch a single NFL game last year until the playoffs and only watched then because the Falcons made them. The NFL took a poll and found out that the reason viewership was down last year was because of Copperdick and the rest of the assholes who refused to stand for the national anthem. Still, they are doing nothing about it. A few weeks ago, many Cleveland Browns players knelt during the national anthem. NFL great Jim Brown took them to task for it. The next game, they all stood.
There is not a country on this planet where black people have it better than they do in this country. They live better than 90% of the people on the planet. The reason they do not do better is their own fault. They drop out of school. They don’t do well in school because it’s “acting white” and then they bitch that they can’t get good jobs. Their girls get preggers at fourteen and immediately begin a life of poverty. Three out of four black children are born to single mothers. Is that the fault of white privilege? Nope. It’s the fault of black stupidity. It’s amazing how much better people do, both black and white, if they stay in school and wait until they are married before having children. Only about five percent of those people wind up in poverty. How simple is that?
Those Browns players immediately adjusted their behavior in response to the direct clarity and forthright leadership that an alpha male that they respect brought to them. That tells you all you need to know about the weak leadership and lack of spine of the league and the current PC culture which enables their dysfunction.
These players are just tools — they are unwitting pawns in a larger culture war targeting all iconic American institutions such as the Boy Scouts, Walmart, McDonalds, Coca-Cola, etc.
Jim Brown , probably the greatest running back of all time., always gave 110% even when playing hurt & never complained. Oh, I know some of his records have been eclipsed but if they played 16 game schedules with expanded post season schedules back then I do not think any of his records would ever have been approached let alone broken.
m was & still is a proud man & did not mix politics with the game.
Jim did not make a spectacle of himself being a sidelines side show & kept his mouth shut unless he had something important to say ………Then you listened.
Those of us who had the good fortune to watch football in it s golden years were privileged to have seen some of the greatest foot ball players of all time & they played for a whole lot less money then the Prima Donna`s of today.
I have always admired Jim Brown , in every thing he did back then he had class ….he still does.
Saw that same post on Facebook. Could not agree more. At this point I will not watch or support the NFL. I will no longer buy their overpriced merchandise. The NFL can just dry up and blow away for all I care. Your thoughts are also spot on again Denny.
Only time I see football is if I’m happen to be somewhere that it’s on. Couldn’t even tell you who the sponsors are, so I wouldn’t know who to boycott. Fuck ’em all.
Stop watch Pro. Football decades ago when my son started playing at his Jr. High. The games are a damn sight more fun to watch and don’t have to listen to some half-wit breaking in to tell me what just happened.
I would expect other players would probably “rough up” this QB for this, like a knee in the balls.
Also other players in the locker room would haze him.
And the pathology no one will mention: what group kills the most blacks?
A> Black women, as evidenced by their abortion rate. NYC report for 2013: Black live births: 24,108 (36,130 state wide). Abortions: 29,007 (34,960 state wide)
All Black deaths in NYC: 14,127 (20,461 state wide)

But, but but. I grew up with the Green Bay Packers. It’s the only team I watch. Besides, I am an NFL owner. Okay, I only have one share of the team, but it’s my team.
For the most part, they keep their noses clean.
They’ve seen what Jim would do to his women.
They damned sure didn’t want him to do it to them.
Last year when one of the Broncos took a knee in the opener finished what little interest I had left. Ain’t ever coming back and don’t miss it a bit.
