But viewership is down (SNF and MNF keep tanking in the ratings – Overall ratings are down double digits this season after being down 8% last season) which is where the profits are and owners are worried which is why Art Rooney sent a letter to Steelers nation. NFL Fan – I and many before me have served this country and that Flag, just so you have the right to express your opinion. Your are correct my generation is on the way out. However I have some news for you, my sons and grandsons are far better men than I ever will be. OK – I live in Arlington, TX – where Jones has his butt ugly stadium. Now I could write a rant worthy of Denny about everything Jones. So I will keep this short. Jones does not give a damn about anything except is cowboys. His statements and actions show the caliber of the man, being I am not surprised by his actions. When he bought the cowboys, I stopped watching pro-football. I figure it this way whatever is good for Jones and the cowboys is bad for those here in Arlington. Meanwhile at both my local VFW and American Legion post they have taken up watching soccer. Which I am starting to find a lot more fun to watch.
I can’t stand soccer and they no longer have test patterns. I recently discovered my Telly has an O-f-f switch. I got more done on Sunday than I have in months. The weather was nice, and no distractions.
Okay, NFL fan, you’ve said your piece. Denny has been courteous enough to let your posts appear. You probably live in one of those urban areas where your views resonate in the echo chamber that surrounds you. Your fallacy is that you think your opinion represents the rest of the country. Think again, ’cause my daughter and her husband are in their mid-thirties and both of them spent many years serving this country. She did 8 years in the Navy and he, 16 in the Army. They’ve gone to some pro sports games, in Sandy Eggo and Seattle, but those were baseball. I doubt she’s paid any attention to the NFL since Jerry Rice retired, and there’s just about zero chance they’ll ever go to a pro football game.
In the small village where I live, most of what I hear is that football won’t be watched on Sunday, Monday and Thursday. When the satellite TV companies start seein’ cancellations of the sports packages by customers (no cable here) it may turn out that the NFL will realize that its golden goose is bein’ killed, gutted and roasted. Be awfully hard for ’em to keep payin’ those huge salaries to the pampered pussies on the field, huh? The owners’ loyalty is only to the dollar, and if revenues drop too much now, they’ll be worryin’ about gettin’ butts in the seats this year and next, and hope that they’re still in business in fifteen years.

1. Call your congresscritter and demand revocation of the NFL’s ant-trust exemption and any tax breaks.
2. Call your governor and demand revocation of any subsidies or breaks.
3. Turn off the TV. Cancel your NFL Sunday Ticket (DirecTV announced they’ll refund your money if you say you’re canceling due to “protests”). Stream it if you can’t live without it.
4. Stop buying NFL jerseys etc.
5. Write to NFL sponsors to tell them you’re boycotting THEM until the NFL shows respect.
